Glad the migraine is gone, meara! Yeah, a 5k might be pushing your luck.
Eating is always an adventure at my house! Sometimes it's "what the hell is in this?" and sometimes it's just "is there anything actually edible here?" but there are always interesting questions afoot. Making breakfast before I have coffee might be the most exciting challenge...
It just irks me because I"m actually AWAKE when I would've needed to be, for the 5K! But oh well. I will finish catching up on my week of TV, and maybe go hit up another thrift store.
I just roasted a bunch of peppers and am sauteeing a bunch of leeks. I guess I'll make romesco sauce with the peppers, but the leeks are just going in the freezer for winter soups.
The fire alarm in my building just went off, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't me, because the ones in my apartment did not. I mean, right? At least it didn't take that long to be turned off.
Oh, yeah, I understand that. The 'I could have done that thing after all but I decided not to and now it would be a hassle" feeling is pretty irritating.
The muffins are very tasty but look, um, not good and are kind of problematic as finger food. This recipe will definitely need refining before it is fit to serve to company. Possibly going mini rather than jumbo would help. But I think the principle is sound - I enjoy the flavor profile, to throw around a term I don't really understand. But meanwhile I have a week's worth of breakfasts in the fridge, so that's a win.
Have I started my Science and Cooking class yet? No, no I have not. Oh, self.
ETA: I support your reasoning re: the fire alarm, Jesse. And having a stash of leeks in the freezer is so smart! My pork stew from yesterday called for leeks and while it's fine without them, it would be better if I had had some frozen to toss in.
Oh hey, did anyone post here that Marcia Wallace died? Sad.

I kept trading for them at the CSA, for this very reason. There's no saving lettuce for next year, you know? Anyone have any bright ideas of ways to freeze broccoli, other than blanched and in a chicken/pasta casserole?

Me neither. And doesn't look I'll have any time to in the next couple of weeks either. boo, me.
W/R/T Atomic Nashville, some folks down there approached Atomic here about opening a sort of a branch down there (citing the lack of independent bookstores, Kate). I'm not sure of all the details--how closely coupled they will be businesswise--but I think they are using the name and philosophy/style of the original which should mean good times for Nashvillian book lovers!
We are listening to H'ween mix and Bob just made pancakes and bacon. I'm working on notes from the Ride for the Feast 2014 committee meeting last week. Nice Sunday! I do have to do something about my ridiculous clothing/closet room situation today. At least I need to start the summer to fall/winter clothing transition. The situation is getting to be UNTENABLE!
Roasted?
That is sad about Marcia Wallace. Also, she was very close to my mom's age, that always makes me a little anxious.

I made this really delicious broccoli cheese soup yesterday that should freeze well!

You actually could freeze it before putting the cheese in and then melt the cheese into it when you reheat, probably.
Sorry I missed your birthdays Brenda and Fiona. Hope they were happy ones!
