That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

YAY for happy job news!

Man, Rose just threw another screaming fit at bedtime tonight: shrieking, howling, red-faced, wild-eyed, fighting me when I tried to put her PJs on, wouldn't even let me read her our usual bedtime book. Same thing last night, and at least one other night recently. She also apparently had a long crying spell at daycare both yesterday and today after she saw another baby getting fed with a bottle (we have recently cut out bottles in favor of sippy cups, with mixed results).

I think it's partly from being tired at the end of a long day and partly that she's about to sprout some more teeth, and partly having a hard time with the transition to the sippy cups. It just makes me feel so terrible to hear her screaming and screaming, and to have to practically wrestle with her to get her diaper and pajamas on. And then once she was all suited up for bedtime, she didn't even want to read or rock, both of which she usually enjoys (and I do too); she just wanted to be put in her crib, so I didn't get to help calm her down. I kind of feel like she just slammed the door on me and told me to "get out, Get Out, GET OUT!"

xpost: Juliebird, man, I'm sorry this has been such a long and stressful saga. I hope everything goes really smoothly on the 21st!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, poor Rose, and poor you, Kate.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

ION, yay rain! We've been so dry, that although it really threw a wrench in the works in terms of things needing doing NOW, and I stayed until six tonight to be ready for tomorrows project (I really didn't want to, it was hot and muggy and I was experiencing swoobs -for those who know what swalls is- and just generally uncomforatable with cramps and the humidity) it was good to have to not have to worry about running around with sprinklers, and we finally got our plant sale ready, which would never have happened without a rainy day that let me work in the greenhouse (also, aphids galore, that I killed dead with soapy dishwater, it was fantastic).

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Well, at least there was some good news today.

Juliebird, I'm so sorry. It will get better. And I'm relatively sure they don't throw people without insurance into jail... at least the ones who bother to show up in court when they're supposed to.

Jesse, really, the chance of a good payoff will not lure me in. (More horribly, someone whom JonMon previously sued in a suit with similarly shaky grounds didn't respond and was dinged $6K for JonMon's court costs. See what not showing up in court can cost ya?)

I've known Ron Newman for a number of years and he really is the nicest guy and the least likely person to be the main target of an awful thing like this. (He's the moderator of the davis_square LJ, so his name's on all the legal stuff.)

No, I know, I was just kidding.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jesus, Julie.

I hope everything comes out okay. I cannot believe how far this thing has gone. Speaks a lot to how the courts use their time and how I wish they would use their time.

I hope it all sorts out well, Julie. That's a clusterfuck.

I kinda think I freaked out my division head this morning. He came in to get a picture for 15 (well, technically I wrap up 16 this fall) years at work. I'd had a flustered morning, was having hair issues, and while normally I'm pretty blasé about pics, this is going to be up on the big screen in the auditorium. I just looked at him and was all OH HELLS TO THE NO. Couple hours later, he sends me an email that he'd sent to all the people he couldn't track down offering them the opportunity to provide a pic, apologizes for ambushing me. D'aw. I sent the koala&me picture, cause EVERYONE looks awesome holding a koala.

Bonus, I found one of my favorite pictures of Devi on the work laptop: [link]

Because books.

Wow, Julie. I hope you can get it straightened out. I grew up in NJ and know from experience that they are complete asses when it comes to anything DMV or driving-related. Like you said, priorities totally wrong.

She kind of did, but that's a good thing! She's learning. In the end, you want to raise a capable, confident person, you know? But I totally get how hard it is to listen to, and freely admit I haven't had to do it in a long time.

That said, in a few years you'll be where I am! This phase, too, shall pass.

Google's Doodle today is AWESOME.

I was reading something someone linked (here? FB?) the other day about other societies, and how in many of the more rural/hunter-gatherer/nomadic groups, kids are given much much more freedom, in terms of roaming around but also in staying up all night and eating when they want, etc. And the article was all "It's so important for kids to have freedom!" and made it sound like GAWD, why doesn't everyone just do what the NOMADS do and let the KIDS BE KIDS. And I"m like "yeah, that's great until the kid has to make it to daycare and mom's going to be late for work..."
