Extrovert/introvert is a spectrum on a bell curve, not a binary.
I love it when you guys talk science and I actually understand it.
I love to be social, but after a certain point I just shut off and I have to go hide. It's one thing about smoking that makes it hard to quit -- it's a perfect excuse for a short break.
I also am an "awkward with the hairdresser" person. I talk about the weather and our city, but I (irrationally) resent the expectation that I am supposed to make chat with someone who is cutting my hair!
My hairdresser is a friend, so I don't mind chatting with her. The ladies at my nail place mostly chat with each other (in Vietnamese) and just let me read my book. I love this. My mother never goes to my nail place (even though they charge literally half what she pays her regular gal), because she likes to chat. This boggles me a bit, but I guess it takes all kinds of people to make a world, right?
Extrovert/introvert is a spectrum on a bell curve, not a binary. Most people need a mixture of socializing and alone time.
To be perfectly honest, if I had a computer, you people, and twitter, I could be alone on a desert island indefinitely.
Shorter or longer than this, Lee?
Right about that length would be good, actually. I may take that one with me
Thanks!
what's the term for someone who is very much an extrovert, but absolutely needs a certain amount of alone time/down time?
I think that is an introvert. I think I might be a shy extrovert, actually.
OMGOMGOMG YOU GUYS.
I want to live here forever:

I know that when my stress level goes up, I need more alone time. But I love going out! Events! Yes, let me go to big events and talk to lots of people!
Oh, and if anybody was particularly entranced with Charlize's hair on Oscar night here's a good reference pic.
See, whereas I'm mad extroverted--I love having houseguests because that means there's people around ALL THE TIME! (I mean, I like them better if they also understand that we should both spend some time on the computer or watching TV, because I hate getting days behind on things like borg and FB, but even then I like doing it with someone else in the room). I'm totally a dog on the dog/cat friend scale. :)
