Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Man, the show Hustle is really cruel in season 6. Are we supposed to identify with the con artists, or with the everyman bartender? Because they're royal doucherags to him. My urge for completeness and finishing off the series is getting weaker and weaker...but summer is so dead for TV. Tsch.

I'm very chatty in the meetings I lead, but I also rarely run over time. I think I have a good 3/4 done reflex to get my second wind and power through to the finish line.

My old boss did *not* like how I started every meeting off socially. I think he felt I wasn't exercising any control. But he would keep taking it away from me, so he caused what he saw. My current boss and my manager let me keep the reins the whole time now, even if I'm presenting to the CIO or other directors and it works out fine. Said CIO, directors, and manager are all female, but I have no idea if that affects the price of tea in China.

Does anyone here like MPREG? Do you feel it's the same psychology as the forced/alien impregnation trope where the victim is female?

I have no interest in MPREG. Frankly, I don't see the appeal, but then I have beautiful cake that other people don't like, so.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Man, the list of people I hate today is so long. I'm ready to drop the bomb on mankind, because at least then the rape jokes would stop.

Oh, dear, Dana, what are you reading?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, you know, the Kickstarter thing, the Lara Croft rape thing, the Michigan vagina thing...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Most of the people I've seen describe their liking of MPREG have said they have a body horror appreciation of it. But these were not people who described it as a kink, just as a narrative interest. Not sure how different those two groups are.

Oh, yes. Don't read the comments on the Wired article about the Kickstarter thing. It's very depressing. And just from an intellectual perspective, I am astonished at how little any of these people learned from their Sociology 101 classes...

And here, how about this? Salma Hayek is such a cow that this magazine clearly had to Photoshop her on the cover. Now she looks like her waist is only slightly bigger than her neck.

Because books.

MPREG sometimes seem like an anvilicious gender definition of the victim. As in, "I want these two pretty boys together, but I want to make sure everyone knows I think X should be the feminine partner."

Hustle is in its sixth season, for real? I thought that show just started. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong one -- is this Kristin Bell and Don Cheadle?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's House of Lies. Hustle is British, and I didn't know it was still on...
