Does anyone here like MPREG? Do you feel it's the same psychology as the forced/alien impregnation trope where the victim is female?
I'm either having a hard time figuring out how a man being *able* to get pregnant is comparable to *forcing* a woman into pregnancy or ... no, that's precisely where I have a hard time. Unless it is forced MPREG. But then the emphasis should be on the forced, not the M of the preg.
People disappoint me.
Boston (and surrounding environs) gets a lot of shittalk about bad driving but people there drive with PURPOSE. We just get agitated if you don't have a plan too. Really, a lot agitated. And turn signals, you can't put those on until just before you turn, because it's a sign of weakness and you are GIVING YOUR WHOLE STRATEGY AWAY.
Conversely I find that driving in New Orleans merely results in me being royally pissed off, whereas Boston scared me out of ever driving there again and I white knuckle it as a passenger in anything smaller than a bus.
Unless it is forced MPREG
Most of the MPREG I've encountered has been unexpected pregnancies. It's not rare by a long shot, at least not in Supernatural fandom. Dean doesn't know that's how Nephilim are conceived and he doesn't have the power to terminate a half-angelic baby...that sort of stuff.
Putting emphasis on the forced comes hand in hand with body horror, so that's not rare either--it's the only sort of MPREG enjoyment I've seen explained, in fact.
The heteronormativity of much slash never fails to amaze me. Such an investment in penetration being dominance, but from the people *I* had assumed would know that was not inherent--the people traditionally penetrated. Once it sunk in, I started feeling alienated, to be honest. It hadn't occurred to me that was such a pervasive interpretation of sex, *including* from straight women.
I mean, for most of us, that's much of our sex life. How can it always be that power distribution...no, I still don't get it.
Hustle is in season 8 now. The episode I just watched was season 6. I went back to it when people started calling Leverage a ripoff, and boy are they knee jerk and missing a whole bunch. *So* not similar. Irritates me.
Oh, I had to unfollow OKCenemies. A couple to many "I don't like Hitler, but I liked his solution" shit out there. I wonder of OKC is a decent place to find a cash pig.
Thank you for all your good wishes, folks; you're the best. I miss you all.
And thank you for your birthday wishes, people. Very thoughtful and nice to read. And a very happy birthday to Dylan!

So much this.
And the fixation on penetrative sex. Because of my current fandom infatuation, I come across a lot of first-sexual-encounter-ever fics. After several, "I don't think that's the good idea you think it is, madame author," thoughts, I just started saying, "fucking heteronormativity" and closing the tab.
Take care of yourself, Karl.
I am not a fan of MPREG, but a friend of mine, tenured professor no less, is writing a long MPREG piece. She's having fun with it, but every so often the wrongness of it just hits me.
Did you check out the link?
I saw you with all your pins on FB! I miss your wig. You might need to get a new one.
(Though your hair looked good.)
MPREG - man, after discovering the existence of wing-fic, MPREG just looks so tame.
I think that's part of Loki's appeal in
Avengers
Fandom. Canonical MPREG. Well, that and Hiddleston.
