Sunday morning, 7 AM. Why I am awake?
Because someone banged on our door and rang the doorbell repeatedly. It took a while to wake me up (because I was ASLEEP), so by the time I decided to go see what the hell was going on, it had stopped.
I opened the door and could hear two people talking, not enough to make out the whole conversation, but the woman, who I assume was one of my neighbors, was saying "Uh-huh" and "Okay" in a friendly way, but clearly just being friendly and placating the guy.
Nothing seemed to be on fire and no one was screaming, so I tried to go back to bed. Fat chance.
Let's hope I didn't just ignore a warning of the zombie apocalypse.
No apparent zombie apocalypse here, Dana, and it's three hours later!
I was awoken at 7 by my cat puking on the bed, but successfully went back to sleep. (I didn't realize it was actually on the bed until I woke up.)
See, I kinda think that the Republican Party, or at least the Tea Party faction gains strength because it is marketed as faux underdog, with government as "the Man"
I hadn't thought of it like that -- interesting.
I've also been marathoning Criminal Minds lately, so OMG what if he was an unsub?
This is why I couldn't go back to sleep. Too much tv.
I'm never scared by CMs that take place in the woods -- only the ones with urban single women! For obvious reasons.
Just realized that our new house is much closer to the train tracks than we had realized -- they're just on the other side of the highway, which we can see from our back windows. How the hell did I fail to notice this when I looked up the house on GoogleMaps *specifically* to check how close the train tracks were? DAMMIT. I don't know if it's going to be a big problem or not, but I feel pretty stupid.
Anyway, uh, apart from that, things are OK at the moment. It's been just about 24 hours since M left for Germany, and so far the baby and I are both still alive. I even got to take a shower after she went down for a nap, and a couple of friends are coming over in half an hour or so to hang out and help pack. So far so good!
I would also like my husband to wake up so we could go get breakfast, but I am not quite low enough to go "accidentally" wake him up.
Kate, are you worried about noise? I'd bet you'll become accustomed to it and not even notice.
Yeah, train tracks on the other side of a highway doesn't seem like it would be a problem. The highway itself would worry me more, but obviously you noticed that one before you bought and took it into consideration.
Since you’re in Nashville, the sound of the train might fill you with with a sense of deep regret about the man you shot in Reno.

I've been known to send one of the kids to wake DH because I am just low enough to do that.
Probably the only trains that use those tracks are Midnight Trains to Georgia. (Everbody with me - whoo whoo!)
