You two carried me through that war. Now I need you to carry me just a little bit further. If you can.

Because books.

gluten-free vegan chocolate zucchini bread

The what now?! Chocolate does NOT touch vegetables, good god.

In other news, I have earned a gold medal in procrastination today. I did all kinds of household stuff and haven't even OPENED A WORD DOCUMENT yet. In a minute, I say to myself, and wander away for a cigarette.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Why did the horizontal line between Jesse & David's posts end up down here, just above the posting box? SO WEIRD.

ION, the cook we hired to cook for my folks has twice cancelled because of car problems, and today is apparently in the ER.

And apparently my mother yells at my father all the time, and won't take her medications in the morning half the time, which makes her mood worse. I don't see how much longer this can go on. Either I'll have to move in with them, or they have to get full-time caregiving.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I vote full-time care that is not you.

Semi-relatedly, is it just my age or does there seem to be an uptick in multi-generational homes again? I was thinking the other night that split design houses with only a shared kitchen would be really good for situations of elderly parents needing full-time care, but the children wanting to be there also. And similarly, they would work well for families that due to unemployment or underemployment who have to move in with parents or siblings.

A duplex is really what I think my parents and I should get as they get older, but of course they are all "we need more space blah blah blah cakes". Ignoring the fact that I do not really want to live right beside them, but it would be most convenient in cases of emergency and old parentness.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yes. Because of the economy.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

The asshole contingent in politics is being very vocal this week, huh? Gah...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Consuela, don't do it. You feel like you should, but you're not a professional. Your personal connection to them probably makes you worse qualified for it, not better. Don't.

I'm still so terrified about my parents. We've thought about a lot of things, but not slow deterioration. Not mental deterioration. I can say lots of things about other people's families but I look at my sister and all the things she did when my mother was sick last year and I just feel like shit.

"Vocal assholes" makes me think of farting. Somehow this leads me to picturing Benny Hill chasing around Akin and Ryan in fast motion while "Yakety Sax" plays.

Sometimes my brain is a fun place to live....

Yeah, Consuela--I think that it would make you completely insane, and not be good for your OWN health to live with them.

Also, it might make you hate your siblings forever for not having to do that.

There is a part of me that really wants to get a duplex and move my dad in to one half. Or take over an apartment building and get the ElderGoth Hive set up.

hip deep in pie

Chocolate Zucchini Cake is the NOM! so moist. (Not necessarily what Jesse posted there, but I am bookmarking it as the zucchini are coming fast and furious.)
