is there a convention for being a lazyass, can you telecommute to it? will they send food to my house and clean the bedroom like a hotel would?

so, just attended a new employee handbook meeting where we were asked to sign 1)confidentiality agreement 2)agreement to never sue and settle any and all disputes through arbitration 3)agreement of receiving handbook, understanding it, and being given opportunity to have all questions answered.

I signed #1&2, but will take my 7 days allowed for #3 since there was neither time allowed to read it or ask questions.

#2 required signature by next Tuesday or you could be terminated.

not so much feeling motivation to do good work today, feeling strong-armed and intimidated. bleh.

I need 72 hour advance approval to miss work or leave early for a dr. appt and I need that in writing. I am being overly cautious and emailing my boss to take my lunch late a few days to make mac appts. good lord.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

they cannot remove your right to sue under ALL conditions. Isn't negligence (for example) exempt?

Good lord indeed. That all sounds like crap, msbelle.

I was thinking about the person who cleaned our old place. One day I came home unexpectedly while she was there and her three kids were with her. She was abjectly apologetic and I kept telling her it wasn't a problem.

Kids make things complicated. There have been days in the school year when I've had to take Grace or Noah to work with me. It is nigh impossible to keep work separate. I don't know how the new CEO of yahoo will be able to do it. Even with all the nannies money can buy.

Yeah, my gut is the document would not hold up in court AT ALL. Therefore the only reason to have employees sign it is to intimidate them and/or diminish their understanding or their rights. Not great management in my mind, but seems to be a pattern here, at least recently.

Yeah, I don't see that holding up. You can't negotiate your way out of complying with state and federal labor laws. I'm pretty sure that if they don't pay you overtime, they can't insist you settle it through arbitration.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I am packing for Las Vegas and ROLLERCON! How excited am I about a week of derby on skate classes, seminars and world class roller derby bouts?

Without me????

Art Crawl!!!

I read that today is National Vanilla Ice Cream Day.

Wednesday is National Hot Fudge Sundae Day.

Coincidence?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I bought a new car that is too expensive.

This is insane, but it makes me feel like I need to lose weight and wear better clothes to drive it.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What car did you get?
