One of Erik's friends has an empty rental with power a couple blocks away that is dog-friendly, so he's decamping to there for the night. His wife and kids are out on the Eastern Shore with her parents and they are gonna stay there until the power is back. All good.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I decided to use stuff up in the fridge and wound up making some seriously delicious orange-ginger ice cream. (1 pint heavy cream, about half a jar of marmalade, 2 oz ginger syrup, some corn syrup, some sugar, enough milk to bring the whole thing to 4 cups. If if tastes half as good tomorrow as it did right out of the ice cream maker, I may not share any with my kids.)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, that sounds super awesome. I think I have everything at home to make that except the ginger syrup. I feel that I need ginger syrup in my life.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I feel that I need ginger syrup in my life.

Do you have ginger in your life? You can just dump in a bunch while making simple syrup and there ya go.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

We had grilled shrimp, grilled asparagus, and linguini with a white wine garlic lemon sort of sauce that turned out ok. AM STUFFED.

Lights just came on across the street! I hope this means my Y opens tomorrow (in addition to my neighbor's comfort!)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Posting from one of the open filk rooms at Concertino in lovely Boxborough, Mass. I'm pretty sure our house lost power yesterday, but we won't be home until Monday. I hope the cats have retreated to the basement. Also hoping we won't find a fridge full of spoiled food when we get home.
