Yep. Good news is that they're paying for it.
Hey, that reminds me. Legal counsel is always spelt legal counsel, right? Not legal council?
also yep. A legal council would be a group of people who do something legal.

Ooh, that's great news!
What's the time difference at which jet lag becomes a factor? Because the 2 or 3 hours that Jamaica is different from LA doesn't seem to bother me. The actual plane ride is a strange time out of time.
I'm going to say 6 hours, because coast to coast doesn't bother me nearly as much as East Coast to Paris used to. And it's not the overnight thing, because I far prefer SFO-Paris (11-12 hours and 9 hour time difference) to NY-Paris in either direction. My family was shocked the first time I flew from SF because I didn't have any jetlag (as compared to NY when I would sleep in for days). Of course, they were also shocked I could only come for a week because I had two weeks vacation/year, but that's a whole 'nother story.
I didn't get jet lag when I went to Kenya either, but maybe that was too long a trip. I don't know.
(I can't even think about what will transpire if Tim and I get married. Because it won't be in the Catholic church, and probably not in any church. But that's not really an issue right now and may never be. But still, I can't help thinking about it.)
That sounds like a good reason for not marrying at all. Or secret marrying. Oy. Can of worms to be sure.
And that (liberation theology) was something I loved about Catholicism. Don't know where it went.
This. My personal experience with the Catholic church has always been heavily on that side of things, and it's hard to reconcile those people (and the JZs of the world) with what the broader institution really is.
Best wishes for your mom, Frank.
espousing things like -- his (Tim's Dad) salvation is contingent on getting his children to come back to the church
Yeah, I grew up in fundy evangelical churches and while we were told we needed to tell people about Jesus and help them get saved, our own salvation was not dependent on whether or not we were successful.
All kinds of ~ma for your mom, Frank.
Great news, Vortex. Pretty good company!

That strikes me as evil--causing huge amounts of emotional distress to church members just to increase the church's membership.
Hey Stephanie (and others): I think you'll be interested in tonight's Frontline episode on immigration detention: [link]

I can't talk about it with JZ anymore because I get all rantypants.
I do spend a fair amount of time telling her to just "Schism already!" and split off a Super Liberal We Didn't Think Jesus Was Joshing When He Said Take Care of the Poor Plus We Love Teh Gays and Wimmins New Catholic Church.
