I look more rad than Lutheranism

espousing things like -- his (Tim's Dad) salvation is contingent on getting his children to come back to the church

Seriously? That's ... not very Catholic, to me. No church I've ever attended had that kind of attitude. But then if it did, I wouldn't have been going there.

Yeah, I was literally speechless when he said that. I have never heard of such a thing. His parish is a little weird.

Nobody's talking about liberation theology anymore, that's for sure.

And that (liberation theology) was something I loved about Catholicism. Don't know where it went.

That's exactly it.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Vortex, I am thrilled for you!

Does this mean you are moving?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Good onya, Vortex. Hey, that reminds me. Legal counsel is always spelt legal counsel, right? Not legal council? I kept correcting that in a work document, and people kept making the error again. At least, I've been assuming it's an error in the US as well.

Ugh, Frank. I can't stress thorough testing enough. My mother was sick for two years before she got a correct diagnosis. TWO YEARS after her first visit with a gastroenterologist.

What's the time difference at which jet lag becomes a factor? Because the 2 or 3 hours that Jamaica is different from LA doesn't seem to bother me. The actual plane ride is a strange time out of time.

I hope they figure out what to do about your mother, Frank.

Could she be having trouble swallowing liquids?

Yep. Good news is that they're paying for it.

also yep. A legal council would be a group of people who do something legal.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good news is that they're paying for it.

Ooh, that's great news!

I'm going to say 6 hours, because coast to coast doesn't bother me nearly as much as East Coast to Paris used to. And it's not the overnight thing, because I far prefer SFO-Paris (11-12 hours and 9 hour time difference) to NY-Paris in either direction. My family was shocked the first time I flew from SF because I didn't have any jetlag (as compared to NY when I would sleep in for days). Of course, they were also shocked I could only come for a week because I had two weeks vacation/year, but that's a whole 'nother story.

I didn't get jet lag when I went to Kenya either, but maybe that was too long a trip. I don't know.
