I need to get some apples. I have a pork loin and pork chops in the freezer (why, yes, my mom sent me home with a freezer bag full of meat the last time I visited) and I also make a mean Apple Brown Betty.
My house smells so delicious right now, like chicken and garlic and butter and onion all mixed together.
I've been craving a Reuben for the last three days so I finally just went out and got one. Fortunately the revamped Haight Street Market has a great sandwich counter with their own pastrami. (They clearly used Bi-Rite as a model, and it's working.)
I got JZ a piece of kolokithopita. (Greek zucchini pie.)
I did this one, because I had all the ingredients: [link]
I need to get some apples.
When I was out at Stockton last weekend for Emmett's tournament one of the parents brought a loaf of rosemary bread and turkey and sandwich makings and was just handing them out to us. I had completely forgotten how well thin slices of apple go on a turkey sandwich.
Hey Nora, are you all better?
Yep, that's the one I pinned, Nora! How is it? (The smell of my chicken roasting is torture. I'm not sure I could deal with the smell wafting in my nose as I sleep...I'd wake up with the pillow hanging out my mouth or something.)
I'm improving some, but still feeling crappy. Visiting San Francisco was totally worth it.
I need to get phyllo and Brie and Granny Smiths and stuff the phyllo with thin apple slices, Brie, brown sugar and slivered almonds.
I haven't been hungry in 2 weeks, and now I'm RAVENOUS.
Nora, I hope you don't have what I had.
It was good! no crispy skin, but it was really tasty. And so freaking easy... made great juices for gravy too.
