I also tried fire cupping last night, on my back. It kind of hurts, because of the amount of suction created, but it also feels like a really deep massage.
WB has a home kit for this, although instead of using fire to create the suction, it simply has a pistol-looking apparatus that sucks the air out of a valve.

Basically, yes. It's intense pain but really works.
