"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

See, my first thought when seeing the "what are dumplings served with" question was rice vinegar, soy sauce and ginger, of course!

Which means I am reading Sumi's playbook...

mmmmmm... dumplings!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Fried dumplings are served with ackee and saltfish. Boiled dumplings are served with stew peas and rice.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Southern dumplings are more like fat noodles, though--no stuffing. You drop the dough into boiling broth with a whole cut-up chicken (or parts), celery leaves, an onion, a goodly portion of black pepper and some salt. Nouvelle types (like me) reduce the salt, add carrot, thyme, rosemary, garlic slivers, ginger, and regretfully sub rice for the dumplings.

I do miss dumplings.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have gotten way behind in my dumpling making.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Go you, Suzi!

Okay, one of my neighbors is sneezing so loud that I can hear. Through walls. They are on the other side of the building. He must be sneezing his brains out. I actually feel bad for him more than I am annoyed. That ouchy sounding.

GA: It's the wedding episode. It kinda reeked of privilege that the het couple ran off and had a last-minute wedding so they'd be in a better place to adopt their little crush whereas Callie and Arizona had a big, flush, legally empty do, and the mother of Callie's child can't make medical decisions for her without extra paperwork.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I put collards for greens, bourbon for a southern drink, and lemon for iced tea flavor. Pound cake ingredient was sugar,

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

I think i missed the source of this southern food thing, but the responses are hysterical. I used to loooooove chicken n dumpling even tho it always made me sick (allergic to chicken, but i couldn't resist the gloopy mess of heat n serve biscuits boiled in thick, creamy chicken stock. I'd try to scrape most of the chickeney-ness off the dumplings, but still. chicken. that was back in my single-digit age years. Hrm, wondering about cooking southern-style dumplings in yellow curry or thin dahl....

Yes, I'm still in a bad mood.
