Don't you just love this party? Everything's so fancy, and there's some kind of hot cheese over there.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I adore Shibas and Jindos but I think you all know that.

That's where I knew that dog's face from. Now that you say that, maybe he's a Jindo or Jindo mix. He looks like this [link] but he's probably about six months old. We just hope he's chipped.

Yeah, fifteen years ago Emmett was in utero.

My life hasn't changed too much since then. @@

There is a Jindo who hangs out in our local park. He's gorgeous.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I can't believe you had him driving.

He has been pushing so much about getting his permit in July and about how driving will be easy. I think he realized today that while driving is mechanically not that hard, just managing an empty parking lot was challenging. I hope it gave him some respect for the process. Judging distances and speed really surprised him. I don't expect to do it again until he has his permit.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The physical act of driving isn't that hard; negotiating traffic is.

I think about this all the time with Emmett, and how I need to teach him how to read traffic. How to understand what's going on around him, in front of him, behind him, and far ahead of him.

Suzi, I can't imagine having to do driving lessons (argh!) but awesome that you did.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am so fucked.

There's a note in my calendar for Monday that simply says "Jury Duty."

Nothing else. No details. I can't find any jury summons, and of course...it's the weekend. I'm not sure who I'd call, but the numbers I've tried so far are no help. I don't have a juror ID and PIN, because I CAN'T FIND MY SUMMONS.

Shit. I have one piece of related paper, but it's a general purpose brochure. Surely I can't have called and deferred and then thrown out the docs? Even I can't be that bad.

He seemed so chill when I met him, I can only imagine he'll do a good job behind the wheel. Though, I remember...this many years later, how tense I was while learning to drive. One particular one-lane road nearly sent me over the edge (in both meanings of the word!). I wish him loads of luck and calm.

Oh man. Find it ~ma coming your way ita. I'm staring with dismay at my juror summons right now. ugh.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

My dad while coaching HS has always done Driver's Ed. During the summers and some of his off time he teaches it privately. He taught me, and I am a far better driver than most, even with my depth perception issues. The rules about safe distances, blinkers, pedestrian and bike rules are drilled into my brain. I never go over the speed limit in the city and slower on residential and retail/restaurant streets. I have never (knock on wood) had a wreck.

Driver's Ed FTW!
