Suzi, I can't imagine having to do driving lessons (argh!) but awesome that you did.

I am so fucked.
There's a note in my calendar for Monday that simply says "Jury Duty."
Nothing else. No details. I can't find any jury summons, and of course...it's the weekend. I'm not sure who I'd call, but the numbers I've tried so far are no help. I don't have a juror ID and PIN, because I CAN'T FIND MY SUMMONS.
Shit. I have one piece of related paper, but it's a general purpose brochure. Surely I can't have called and deferred and then thrown out the docs? Even I can't be that bad.
I think he realized today that while driving is mechanically not that hard, just managing an empty parking lot was challenging.
He seemed so chill when I met him, I can only imagine he'll do a good job behind the wheel. Though, I remember...this many years later, how tense I was while learning to drive. One particular one-lane road nearly sent me over the edge (in both meanings of the word!). I wish him loads of luck and calm.

Oh man. Find it ~ma coming your way ita. I'm staring with dismay at my juror summons right now. ugh.
My dad while coaching HS has always done Driver's Ed. During the summers and some of his off time he teaches it privately. He taught me, and I am a far better driver than most, even with my depth perception issues. The rules about safe distances, blinkers, pedestrian and bike rules are drilled into my brain. I never go over the speed limit in the city and slower on residential and retail/restaurant streets. I have never (knock on wood) had a wreck.
Driver's Ed FTW!
Good luck, ita.
Could it maybe mean jury duty for someone else?
Could it maybe mean jury duty for someone else?
No, it's definitely me, and I'm definitely an idiot.
I don't even know which courthouse I'd show up at! Shit! And it's not like my Monday isn't back to back with meetings.
Wait, ita, are you a citizen? I didn't know that. I wouldn't think you'd be eligible.
How to understand what's going on around him, in front of him, behind him, and far ahead of him.
I still struggle with that.
Our house mate has his driver's test tomorrow, and he's 32. He just had a driver's ed course, and for some reason they taught him that you never, ever go through a yellow light. So he will stomp on the brakes with both feet if the light turns yellow right ahead of him. He's going to get rear-ended like this, and he's driving our car. Hubby generally drives with him and has tried to say that you stop for a yellow light if you can safely do so and slamming on the brakes is very rarely a good idea. But Housemate is obsessively law-abiding and has a very hard time with the idea of a rule having nuances. Yellow Light=Stop, for him, not Yellow Light=Make a decision on whether you have time to stop reasonably quickly and will you get hit if you stop.
ita, if you call the main courthouse, they should be able to search for you by name.
DC is SO regular, I never have to guess. Two years and two days from my previous summons, the new one is in the mailbox. And I only ever get called for one kind of jury (thank god I've never been called for a grand jury) that I could just show up and I'd be in the right room.
