We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I'd have long ago killed her. That's ridiculous.

It really is. I have had people from outside entities, with whom we have fairly important legal relationships, call me and tell me they've been trying to get her to do something for them for four years, and she won't. So they want someone else to do it. And I send the request up the chain of command--and it ends up back on her desk. Because she's the expert.

I joked with some other coworkers (everyone on the staff knows what she's like, but I and a couple of the other women have it worst) about not missing her much if she got hit by a bus, but I feel bad about it. She's quite pleasant in person, but I cannot bear her.

Once I ended up at lunch with her and she asked about my employment situation, and before I'd half finished explaining the whole thing, she was trying to convince me to quit! It was like something out of a movie. And yet she seems not to understand that we all know what she's doing.

She really is like something out of Mad Men, operating with the belief that the only way to protect herself is to undercut everyone else--especially the other women.

She in fact deletes email on purpose so that nobody can know what she's working on

I don't get how this works. I mean, can people look at other people's email? Otherwise, how would this hide anything? Personally, I delete much of my email because I'm an anti-packrat, but I assume other people know what they've sent me and asked me to do.

good. There are a disproportionate number of boob shots of the boys from various F2Fs.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I don't understand how there is no accountability for this behavior. It is egregious.

Sweet Jesus. It's kind of hot in Chicago today, and my train didn't have A/C. I'm just wearing a gingham dress and I was dying a little. But there were people in jeans and sweaters who didn't appear bothered at all. I think mutants walk among us.

But she reports to the division chief, not my boss, and he won't hear a word about her.

You never know, my micro-managing, disorganized, uber-sensitive boss (or I guess ex-boss) was just basically demoted, since she now reports (as do I) to the other person who for the last 7 or 8 years was her equal, but in Spanish.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

It's kind of hot in Chicago today

I broke out a fan today. My apartment tends to stay much cooler than the outdoors and it's currently 80° in here.

I think I just aggravated a very old shoulder injury, not while working or exercising, but in swinging my arms as I bent to pick up my exercise mat. Sigh.
