"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

I still like Weiner. it's embarrassing, though.

You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

Ha! After the Canucks steamrolled Nathan Horton and he had to be carted off the ice, the Bruins are making them bleed goals in retribution!

ETA: And Krejki scores another, making it 4-0! The Canucks goalie is doing a swiss cheese impression now.

I can't imagine the fury Suela's coworker would inspire. I've dealt with some bad teams, and while I thought I went pretty much scorched earth, I was complimented on my diplomacy. Huh.

Long day. I almost fell asleep at work, apparently slept awful last night. Day was mostly a waste, since I was so brain dead.

MK has the squirts. Am really really hoping it resolved. I love my vet, but my cat is ancient and he doesn't need a new thing and I don't need more vet bills. I'm hoping the cause was the hairball I discovered tonight. My life, let me share it.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Poor MK, I hope he's feeling better. For both of your sakes.

sara, I think I half forgot how to live in a warm place without air con! I was thinking of you and Liese when my place was way too warm yesterday because we had SUMMER for three days. Thankfully it broke with a crazy thunder and lightning storm last night and today it's lovely and my windows and blinds are open without repercussions.

Cass, it kinda cracks me up how I've become an engineer of fans vs a/c + strategic fans. As long as it drops below 70 at night, I close up during the day, but fans at night. When it breaks 70 for the low, I close up and crank the a/c. Which looks like mid-week. I used to be used to this in NM, but it is a different beast here. Esp. with actual window units, not central or evaporative.

MK, well. It is what it is. He's himself and moderately annoying, at least.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You never know, my micro-managing, disorganized, uber-sensitive boss (or I guess ex-boss) was just basically demoted, since she now reports (as do I) to the other person who for the last 7 or 8 years was her equal, but in Spanish.

What?! I need to catch up on your office gossip.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

What?! I need to catch up on your office gossip.

Yeah, between doing my own version of working-to-rule during the day (and therefore getting way behind and having little Internet time) and doing job search stuff in my off-hours, I haven't really been around.

But don't feel too behind since I was only told Friday and it hasn't been officially announced. It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, but I have to laugh because it means I don't have to resign from my ex-boss, who, while an awful manager, has at least (of late) been fighting for my promotion.

It's really just another sign of how clueless they are that they think this is somehow the solution to our group's disfunction.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm being micromanaged a bit, but I stand by my position that I can't determine requirements without talking to the users of the system. Requirements that were written before the system was used are useful, but hands on is key. Those are the pain points I need to address.

More than once I've been told to "Just write something up and run it by them!" Maybe, when I'm expert at the system like you are, but right now I need them to explain to me how it's broken, so I can tell the developers what to fix. In those schmancy requirements documents everyone likes so much.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I'm sorry for the toxicity of everyone's work place (but super happy for Ethan!!).

I had two kids forge my signature on documents required for graduation and I've been told just to lump it. Um. Forgery. Fraud. Not okay.

My counterpart is vastly underperforming. My boss told him that he was so embarrassed about his work that he wanted to hide under the desk. When I asked to pick up one of the classes he teaches so I can loop with students I was told no because he's too valuable.

But in blessed news, RIFs were rescinded for two of the people I like, one at the school and one at another. The librarian who was RIFed had significantly more seniority than I. The other person who was RIFed... I am extremely hopeful that they will finagle a way to keep her at our school.

So tired.

Man, it's 7-1 now. Can they name a goaltender one of the 3 stars of the game based on his contributions to the opposing team?

ETA: Now 8-1. I'm beginning to wonder if Tim Thomas is going to score a goal on Luongo.
