Yep, hard but true. One of the best things a prof ever did for me was flunk me out of a class I had an A in..because I missed a speech and walked in, wanting to reschedule. Syllabus stated, clear as a bell, missing a speech was an autofail, and she did.
I was a 1st semester freshman, and I thank her for it. Now. I thought she was a stone bitch then.
College is your job when you are a student; a future employer who gets a call an hour after your interview time and can I reshcedule because "I lost my -----------" is going to tell you to fuck off. Or if they don't, you had best be pretty goddamned impressive to lose the taint of that unpreparedness.
