Man, when those Blackhawks go by, you know it. I was just sitting here in my living room when I heard the not-unusual-sound-of-helicopters-in-Los-Angeles. Except it sounded like a helicopter was coming in for a landing on top of my building. As I was listening, I noticed it had that particularly "blatty" sound, so I walked over to the window and sure enough, there's a pair of Blackhawks flying low and straight out toward the coast. They'd passed almost right overhead.

Sigh. Plumber is now here, and we cannot replicate the leak. ARGH.

Of course, he also basically decided he couldn't figure out what was the problem without tearing apart the porch ceiling?!? So he's just taken apart some of the fixtres, seen nothing, and is putting them back and recaulking. Sigh.

I'm very lucky one internet friend pulled my night out of the dumper last night. I was *this* close to crying myself to sleep at 6pm (although it would certainly have been better for me to go to sleep at 6pm than at 5am like I really did).

What also helped was that my parents gave me a card where both my mom and my dad wrote substantial bits. And it was eerie how much they said what I needed to hear. Given that both of them spend a lot of time not listening to me when I'm speaking (like asking me something and walking out of the room as I respond to them), I'm astounded at how well what they wrote fits what's going on for me. Anyway, I was really touched and told them so. But I told them in email so they wouldn't walk away from me as I was saying it...
