msbelle I'm on cobra now. I don't know how helpful about costs I can be as the cost is 2% over what your company pays for your total premium. So the employee and employer portion plus 2%. Depending on your company that can be reasonable or quite expensive. I'm single and pay $379/month. It lasts 18 months and in CA we can extend another 18 months. I'm not sure about other state rules.

And he manages to drop one of his typical "jokes" and insult another family member, and brought a copy of one of his favorite pictures of me and proceeded to talk about my breasts. And throughout all this, my brother is embarrassingly drunk and won't lie down. And my god, I need a cigarette and my car. I so want to blow my mother off tomorrow and just sit on the mechanic to hurry up the repairs.

I think it can vary a lot depending on what your company has negotiated for their policy rate. If your group policy hasn't had any catastrophic insurance payouts they can usually negotiate cheaper rates, a lot depends on how big the pool is.

msbelle, my COBRA costs were directly related to what I'd been paying beforehand. It was picking up their slack for exactly the same coverage.
