Depending on your company that can be reasonable or quite expensive. I'm single and pay $379/month. It lasts 18 months and in CA we can extend another 18 months. I'm not sure about other state rules.

I think it can vary a lot depending on what your company has negotiated for their policy rate. If your group policy hasn't had any catastrophic insurance payouts they can usually negotiate cheaper rates, a lot depends on how big the pool is.
