Compassionately intolerant

I get why businesses would want to use it to make a few bucks

This is actually my biggest gripe. Corporate holidays make me sad. Plus, legislating appreciation? Sigh.

I definitely make a point of not going to restaurants or stores, that's for sure. I never really celebrated Hallmark holidays even when younger, so it's not really the holiday that bothers me so much as the bizarre tendency on this particular one for random strangers to bring it up.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't remember which Mother's Day Jamaica celebrates. But since I'm never going to remember when the British one is, I extend wishes to my mother on this one. Not that she's home right now.

I'm glad no one has ever wished me a happy mother's day. It would irritate me. Do they hand out stuff to every man on father's day?

Of course, maybe I'm just bitter because I'm having my Gen X Midlife Crisis.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

megan, someone at the book reading last night was actually named Megan Walker. It was confusing.

Maybe it was just me in disguise.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm pretty sure no one's ever wished me a happy Mother's Day.

But since I'm never going to remember when the British one is, I extend wishes to my mother on this one.

It must be March-ish, because I remember being in London for Spring Break and freaking out that I had forgotten, due to all the signs there.

How panic-inducing! Every year I have a mini-freakout because of my mother's phantom birthday, April 20th. It's what her birth certificate says, so it's lightly lodged in my memory as something to celebrate.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'm on the cusp between Baby Boomers and Gen X, and I'm not sure when my midlife crisis is supposed to be. Maybe I missed it.

Indeed.
