Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

omnis, don't forget to factor in that moving costs money, even if they pay for the actual movers. Also, if this is the very top of the range they can offer, what does that mean in terms of future raises and funding for the department?

Trust my rage

I'm sorry to just jump in here but I had my first day at my new job today and it was great. I have an office, co-workers who seem decent, and a bunch of cases I'm now responsible for. It's crazy because I *know* I'm a "real" lawyer, and have been for a while, but this just feels like even more "real".

Our wings are not tired.

That is great to hear, Stephanie! How was the commute?

Trust my rage

One the way up, it was very stressful. I took Joe's car because it gets better mileage. It's a sportier Saab than my Honda but it's not as good on the ice and it snowed yesterday. And for some reason, the heater and headlights weren't working. So, about the time I got to the downside of Monument Hill (where everyone is going 90) I couldn't see a thing and the windows were fogging up. I had to pull over while everyone whizzed passed me. I almost never get scared at that sort of thing but between the fast cars and the cold, my hands were shaking. Since it was 6:30, it was still dark. Once I got the snow off, it was mostly okay.

The ride home was the polar opposite - glorious sunshine and I felt on top of the world.

eta: I'm commuting from 6-7 and 3-4 so I miss most of the bad traffic.

The status is NOT quo.

Oh Liese, what a relief!

Stephanie, glad the commute wasn't too bad.

Beth, so much love and strength to you. It's so hard.

Job~ma, Pix.

Eeep, that sounds like a very unpleasant way to start the day, Stephanie. Glad it took such a good turn. Do you know what the problem was with the car. I know you don't want a repeat of that one tomorrow.

The starting the day in the dark stuff sucks. Don't wanna do it again tomorrow, and yet.

I thought it was a fuse because there was heat but no fan. But this afternoon, there was plenty of air blowing so maybe it was frozen? I'm not quite so worried for tomorrow because it's not snowing tonight.

Yes! Much ~ma to Kristin. (I'm sort of distracted at the moment since I'm wrangling two children who are out of sorts due to DST and extra out of sorts due to their new schedule.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Not to mention I already have additional work to throw your way, if only you were out here now now now.
Ya, I know. And that is one of the intangibles that push me towards yes.

Ayup. They will pay 50% of moving costs up to $3k. Coincidentally enough, 2 years ago, the movers alone cost $3k to move TO Texas. So, I'm looking at about $1500-1800 debt to take the job. As for raises, my understanding is everyone at the uni gets the same raises (or lack there of) when they happen. But the past 2-6 years have seen poor raises. Of course, one could say as the economy turns around, raises are due.
