Because it is ONE degree today people, ONE. Not on, December.
I am so effing cold. My room is freezing! Well, not really, but it is 65 in here which is warmer than 1, but still cold for inside.
Last night, I decided to stop and get gas so I'd have a full tank for the 1 degree day today. At 8:15 last night, it was 15 degrees but the wind was whipping around and it was so so very cold. And my gas cover was frozen shut, so there I am at the gas station in -400 degree wind chill chiseling the ice off my gass cover with a screwdriver. Funsies, I tell ya.
My nerd neighbors are Firefly fans. One just sang the chorus from "The Man They Call Jayne" and said, "I need to find someone who can do that on the guitar." Neighbor: "I'll so do that!" And then they laughed in shared geek joy.
The CTA was such a mess this morning. Some of the tracks and switches in the Loop were frozen. I had to take three separate trains - and I only go four stops.
But thank dog for the CTA bus tracker. My preciousss. We loves the precious.
I've read about 47 books this year, currently on 48. Most of those books were pretty hefty. I tried to make an effort to read more books and less internet. In the end, I think I just got less sleep.

Yeah. (I almost said "totes" here.) I've been checking that before I leave for work in the morning, to make sure I won't have to be standing around in the cold waiting for a late bus.
Plus if I'm already at the stop I can use my cellphone to see how long before the bus arrives, so I can decide whether to keep on waiting or find some other method of getting where I'm going.
In the end, I think I just got less sleep.
More muffin?

We have a GPS bus tracker, too, and it rocks my socks. Except for the occasional ghost bus blip, but really? Overall a definite win. t hugs free public transit tight
...muffin?
That really is brilliant. I wish they had that for the trolleys here. My closest stop only gets 1/4 of the trolleys, but the one that they all stop isn't that far, so I wish I could know for sure which made the most sense.
