I don't often think of you wanting to kill people, Sophia. I swear I'm not laughing at you, just laughing at the idea that this guy's flatness sparks so much violence in people. Why is that?
And you totally can't kill him until after I pimp slap him up and down the block. These things have a natural order.
The Tobey Maguire hate is so surprising! I mean, I don't love him, but mostly he's just not on my radar at all.
I just read this on wikipedia:
During many of his auditions, Maguire found himself auditioning for roles opposite another rising actor, Leonardo DiCaprio. The pair struck up a fast friendship and made an informal pact to help each other get parts in their movies/TV shows/other projects. For example, both auditioned for the same part in the 1990 TV series based on the 1989 comedy Parenthood. DiCaprio got the part, and Maguire later got a guest role at least partially due to DiCaprio's recommendation. The same scenario played itself out during casting for the 1993 movie This Boy's Life (featuring Robert De Niro as the lead); DiCaprio got the main teen role (coincidentally, the character was named "Toby") and Maguire got a part as one of Toby's friends.
So maybe they wanted to work together?
He's one of two perfect examples of actors who's very voice makes me want to commit violence. (The other one is ... oh, whatshistoes, he starred in Scott Pilgrim. I have the same reaction to him.)

Tobey Maguire I got nothing. I saw him in Cider House Rules and thought his lack of affect in his voice was brilliant. Then I realized it was just his voice! And it makes me want to kill him.
He literally put me to sleep in that movie, despite the fact that there was a compelling Michael Caine performance too. My ex laughed about it afterwards.
I wonder if the period piece filmmakers are being confused by his resemblance to Elijah Wood, and casting him when they were really initially thinking of Wood?
