Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

(My first experience with Rt. 22, no left turns, and jughandles was my first night, after sunset, in the pouring rain, after a six hour drive. My hate was strong).

Juliebird, that was my EXACT first experience with NJ! Along with getting lost because I'd been told the wrong exit number. I lived there for 13 years. I learned that some parts of NJ are actually very nice. But I still hated it.

Congratulations, Doctor Nilly!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

At least at the last non-profit, we got annual raises of 2.5%, or maybe .5%, but at least it was something.

And with the Evil Interim transitioning the new ED, I'm sure I'll look unworthy in New EDs eyes. Not that either of them know what I do or what a day is like. Even if they spent a day being my bitch, they still wouldn't know.

I cleaned my office, this one time, on a rainy day. Next thing I know the interim is giving me suggestions for future rainy days, because I did such a stellar job maximizing the space in the hort office. My rainy days are a precious precious thing, and even then, if it isn't flooding, I'm still out there playing catch-up.

The other bane is that, with the knowledge that we are too few staffed and no matter how many 80 day weeks we work, we will never do everything that needs doing, the hort department doesn't freak over it. Either freak 24/7 and drop dead of a heart attack or heat exhaustion, or stay chill and do what we can, realistically. We try to stay chill. This makes us look lazy, and our jobs unimportant.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

It's a dog on dog world.

ETA in reference to tommy's link, not juiebird's job woes!

Where I live now in NJ it could be NH (like Bedford, rural but swanky with enough beautiful old farmhouses to keep me happy. Horse country. And the road I drive to work doesn't know what rush-hour is.)

How long would it take my cat to kill me if I put her in a diaper?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

How long can you stay awake?

I just noticed I got a work call on my cell at like 6:30. If I had noticed then, I would have called back, but now? Eh. It's not a crisis.

“Not dead yet!”

You planning on going to sleep any time in the near future?

I must have committed some dire offense in the eyes of my roommate's cat, because we are on day two of revenge pooping on my bathroom floor.

Big storm moving through. I need to get an awning for one of my outdoor areas (balcony!) so I can sit outside and watch. I've got such great views off the back.
