Dean/Ellen is smoking hot. Sam/Ellen is just wrong to me. I don't think it's an age thing. There was measurable onscreen sexual tension between Dean and Ellen, even if it was unremarked. I never for one minute felt anything maternal or filial between them. On the other hand, I never felt anything between Sam and Ellen but friendship, perhaps a favorite nephew. I just have never been able to buy Sam/Ellen, no matter how well written.

Aw, thanks. I miss you, too. I really do. I've been catching up in lurk mode for what feels like months now. Work is a huge time suck, basically (that's not how I'm supposed to think about it, is it? Ha!). BUT I have made some new hires recently that I think will help tremendously with that... just in time for hiatus, yay? So, yeah, bring on the death matches of assorted variety!

I never would have called Sam/Ellen from the screen, but every one I've read has been scorching like whoa. It's possible it's an Ellen thing for me. Ellen and good writing.
