Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?

He submits to his destiny
He was never destined to jump. He was destined to say yes and facilitate the end of the world. I don't get where he submits. He subverted. He never went over to the dark side, accepted the evil like Jake or Ava.
was Azazel working for Lucifer?
Yes. They had the conversation in Lucifer Rising where Lucifer told Azazel that he must find a special child to break the seals and it involved Lilith.
He was destined to say yes and facilitate the end of the world. I don't get where he submits.
Neither do I.
The destiny was supposed to be Lucifer wearing Sam to the prom and fighting Michael who was wearing Dean. That didn't happen.
I think one of my only questions about plot points was the demon blood, which is really from this season, not just last night. Ruby told him he didn't need the feather to fly, but we've seen the effect it has on him. Last night especially -- he put down that last gallon and was all moose!Sammy with the wingspan and the bellow and blowing up demons with his mind.
So. That's confusing.
Me three. He subverted destiny. It is a not a matter of his doing what he was supposed to. His destiny was to go on a rampage and fight Michael, destroying the world (or most of it ) in the process. He jumped into hell and subverted it. He is not only a big damn hero. He is a big damn hero who subverted his destiny. Team free will won, and that was not what was supposed to happen.
But I do agree that Bobby and Castiel coming back were kind of missing the point. I'm absolutely sure that if there was not going to be a next season they would have stayed dead. (And Dean would have died too. I thought the suggestion that Sam and Dean might have driven the Impala into hell together a-la Thelma and Louise was an awesome suggestion. But at any rate Dean would not have survived.)
I think the demon blood is to make him extra hot.
What? It makes perfect sense.
But they really should clarify it. I mean, I get that he's not supposed to delve into his powers, because that way lies darkness--but I want to know how much he can do without drinking.
And? THEY KILLED INNOCENTS FOR THAT BLOOD. How offhandedly cold.
I'd love to know what they changed about the last few eps to accommodate it not being the series finale anymore. I wonder how much Kripke intended to hurt us.
I wonder how much Kripke intended to hurt us.
I don't wonder. I think it was rocks fall, everybody dies.
Cas stayed exploded. Bobby's neck was still broken. And either Dean and Sam went into the hole together (in the Impala, yes) or Sam and Adam go as shown and Dean is pretty much dead inside and the only person left slumping.
Final scene should be the Impala driving though. Into Hell with the boys or Dean going off into an uncertain future where he is alone.

Okay, I can accept what you're saying about the events of the episode (Sam leaping into hell, him not actually fighting Michael, the world not ending in rubble) meaning that the Destiny wasn't fulfilled.
But the fact that he ended up with Lucifer inside him, and with him in hell does not seem like a victorious ending any way that I look at it. I'm hoping that the final shot might be a Sam free and clear of Lucifer but I'm not convinced of that. Add it to a Dean that I feel is in an extremely precarious mental state, and I can't feel relief or triumph. (Except for Castiel -- I was so happy for him, to see his powers restored and even augmented, and his determination to go kick ass and take names.)
deleted Sorry for the double post.

Very good point. Also? There was a tiny bit on his bottom lip when he started walking out of shot, and
mrph.
I can only imagine, if this is anything like whatever the end of his five-year story arc originally was, they both died.

He saved the world from destruction. How is that not victorious?
