I have quibbles with that episode but Chad Everett is wonderful.

Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
What quibbles?
It becomes apparent in retrospect that if there's a Satanic alert out on the brothers that witch should have known about it.
And I'm sure they messed up the poker, since most TV does, for dramatic effect.
Chad Everett was pretty damned funny, though.
If the man witch knows that Dean is having a heart attack how ever far away, he ought to know what's in the hand of the dude sitting across from him.
It was cool that that while Sam got some luck, he won via acting. The witch was over-confident in his ability to read people, maybe distracted by having a girlfriend who wanted to die.
Also, this was a witch with his own code. Maybe turning Dean in would have violated it.
And I know the hero always wins in fictional poker games but Sam's hand seemed like rabbit's foot lucky.
Yeah, but I can take one lucky hand as a plot point, because he first bluffed the witch, and then played him into thinking he had gone reckless with grief and desperation. As to why he got the hand, maybe he had an angel on his shoulder.
Maybe manwitch knows about Dean's mortality because he took 50 of his years?
But, yeah, it's great that Sam got to act the hell out of his hand, but what a hand...
Come to think of it, I have won with four of a kind on a small pocket pair when my opponent was sure he had the pot with his full house. I forget the odds are funky with hold 'em. But that was a $5 buy-in, noone's life was at stake.
In a fictional sporting event, you have to win at the last moment. And you can't defuse a bomb with more than a second left on the timer.

"Dooood."
In a clip from one of the cons, both JP and JA mimic Everett's Dean: here, at about 7.57 Doooood.
At the same con, JA addresses the copious amounts of sweat JP produces, here, from about 3.15. I couldn't help thinking that the poker game was *finally* a good story-reason for the sweat.
Oh thank you for that Bev. I may have a permanent smile on my face. Dooood. Between that and little Sam watching the show because that is "him", my face is going to freeze this way!
