Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I can't believe I forgot what sort of porn this would encourage...

Steve Valentine! I love him!

I love him too! I had not realised he'd be on show. I can't help but wish he'd have been some sort of character that would recur, but he is good at twirling his moustache.

I wish they had played clearly some of the dislike of dogs that Dean had last canine ep. This would have been a perfect reversal of it, but it should have it clearly on the table first.

I do not mine the Angelus Ex Frater near as much when it contributes directly to the weekly plotline, like this. However I resent its overuse preceding now. Also, Dean having that mini-revelation in the end is nice, but how can we see something come of it in the short term? He can hardly talk it through with anyone.

::prays for Cas to have a girlfriend::

I read an article that said Misha hopes that if there's a Destiel kiss that Jensen brushes his teeth, and that he can see those moments now that the concept's pointed out to him, but he doesn't know if they're purposeful or not--all by a site that called him "Mischa" and the two related stories were about the ramp Natalie Portman had to use in Thor 2 and how ugly the Twilight baby robot was...so high journalism.

Because books.

I still think the one time Dean was supposed to dislike dogs (8.01) was a complete mistake. Nothing about Dean says dog-hater, and I don't think the attack in Mystery Spot can count -- he doesn't even remember it. I know the hell hounds are different, but they're *different*.

Either way, someone who really doesn't like dogs wouldn't have been so comfortable with them.

(This is a sore point with me, I know.)

Oh, Mischa. ;-)

Other than disliking dogs, what would say dog-hater about Dean (I don't know that anyone said hate)? Are there corollary dog dislike characteristics he lacks, or is it like the debate I was having earlier about angel swords where I just don't like canon and am trying to work around it?

My interpretation of his dislike (fear) has nothing to do with Mystery Spot, BTW, since it was a hellhound-induced thing, and that was before he had died. However, he might have just disliked dogs because he disliked dogs--there's no evidence either way that I can see.

And I don't see anything unfeasible about having been mauled by hellhounds and developing a general dog-dislike as a reaction--it would like having fallen from a great height and developing a fear of smaller heights or less dangerous situations. Gunshy tends to be OTT like that, doesn't it?

Because books.

In my fanon, Dean loves dogs. Because ... guys are supposed to love dogs. And Jensen loves dogs. It's not rational, but I'm okay with it. i.e. I just don't like canon on this point, and I don't think it's been entirely consistent.

Before this week, how was it inconsistent?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That's how I interpreted it when they've used it, but they've been so inconsistent with it that I really have no idea.

Because books.

Post hellounds, there was S6, with All Dogs Go to Heaven, or whatever. He didn't seem to have a problem with the dog in that episode.

Oh, also Dark Side of the Moon. He wasn't freaked out by the dog in Sam's memory.

I'd have to rewatch All Dogs Go To Heaven to see how he treated the skinwalker, but he didn't really interact with the dog in Sam's memory--he just looked at it, right? I've never said he's freaked out by them (and neither did the text, that I see)--just that he doesn't like them, isn't comfort(able/ed) wrt them, certainly not in drawn to them the way that Sam was, and certainly not empathetic in the way he is now.

Because books.

I thought people/someone had said before his dislike of dogs came from fear, after the hellhounds. Aside from him running from the Yorkie in Yellow Fever (which seemed like just a perfect sight gag), I don't recall him being afraid of dogs at all. Before that, based on Mystery Spot if nothing else, he seemed to like dogs. Then in 8.01 he was suddenly adamant about "no dogs in the car!" which I can't remember ever hearing from him before.

Sam has always clearly seemed to like dogs. Dean, it seems to me, has been all over the map. That's about as far as I want to analyze it, honestly. I already said I know part of it is simply my fanon.
