Because books.

I thought people/someone had said before his dislike of dogs came from fear, after the hellhounds. Aside from him running from the Yorkie in Yellow Fever (which seemed like just a perfect sight gag), I don't recall him being afraid of dogs at all. Before that, based on Mystery Spot if nothing else, he seemed to like dogs. Then in 8.01 he was suddenly adamant about "no dogs in the car!" which I can't remember ever hearing from him before.

Sam has always clearly seemed to like dogs. Dean, it seems to me, has been all over the map. That's about as far as I want to analyze it, honestly. I already said I know part of it is simply my fanon.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

He also ended up pulling a gun on a Yorkie in the season six opener.

Right now I can't point you to why I felt 8.01 was a confirmation and not a revelation, but that was definitely something I felt I'd learnt from watching without trying to rely on the hallucination either.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Don't remember which number "man's best friend with benefits" was but in it the lover/pet/familiar said that she could sense in her dog form that he did not like dogs. Dean denied it... Evidence for ita !'s theory.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I forget the episode, but the two of them had to cross a courtyard and climb steps past a pair of leashed GSDs. Dean went first, hurried, stiff, with a stoic expression of locked-down terror. Sam followed after with squinchy face of askeeredness, moving fast, arms and shoulders pulled in. I read residual fear of hellhounds echoing from proximity to mortal dogs from both of them. Though I admit that may just be me reading in.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Wasn't that the one where one of the Fates had their number, so they were on the lookout for almost anything that could take them out Final Destination-style?

Man, this story gutted me: Breath Of All Things by Kismetjetska-- I realised I was avoiding permanently injured boys stories because it was signalling the ending of their hunting, but that didn't mean I needed to avoid non-supernatural AU stories with that as part of the plot.

This is a D/C where Cas is a volunteer at the home where a severely depressed paraplegic (it's not quadraplegic when he has enough use of his hands to do non-detailed things, right?) Dean moves into when living with Sam and Jess after surviving the car injury that killed his father (and from which Sam walked away from uninjured) becomes untenable for them all.

It's written by someone who volunteered in a similar home, and who had a great place to start from to do the injuries research--certainly I'm not educated enough to be dissatisfied with anything I read.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

That was one of the few that I've liked from the BB so far.

I still haven't made it to LJ to read them all at once, but the few I've bumped into knowingly on AO3 seem to have been okay--but it's not like I notice they're BB until after I've read them, so...

I am getting spoilt by the magical appearance of long finished fics. So many of my WIPs are going on hiatus--at least they're calling the chapters announcing it "not a chapter" so I know not to get excited when I click.

Did you read the DCBB where Dean's haunted by (AU) Jo's spirit? I've found a decent success rate with magical police forces/FBIs. And I loved the imagery of Cas in this one--not a shred of badass left off him. I wish the artist had done more--her trueform Cas was intriguing, and I like that she didn't go literal from the story, because it's a shifting unknowable thing. A Beginner's Guide To Communing With The Dead (why didn't she have a taste for me???).

In 180 degree news, I got sucked into the most emo thesaurus OOC vomit ("veil of sweet torture and overmastering pleasure", etc) which has Dean crying every time he had to break a relationship up in high school, and falling for some very un_supernatural-like poetry, and basically the sort of stuff you'd get if you came to D/C through fic only, and certain gifsets. No TV whatsoever. Anyway, I was tagging her taste:

They were warm and dry and tasted sweet, as sweet as maple syrup and pancakes on a lazy sunny morning, and the soapy, clean smell of Castiel’s body, combined with the waves of his body heat embracing Dean, made Dean’s head swim vigorously

and came across penis description that deflated just about everything--she talked about "the wet drop of precome on the pink forehead" and now it has a face...I can't read them stick that inside someone. It's inhumane (which she had covered previously with the now corrected "his eyes were lucid and inhumanely glowing"), and just not sexy. No matter how much tentacle fic or A/B/O dynamics I've come to enjoy over the past year...not at dicks with foreheads yet.

Oh! Jollysnidge is back, Juliebird. I don't know if you'd read the final chapter of Player 2 Is Ready, or if she'd finished the Santorum outlaws porn anywhere readable, but they're both up on AO3 under AlreadyPainfullyGone, as well as a "trailer trash" Dean with the increasingly intriguing "Cas starts out in a chaste relationshionship with (or with a big crush on) Sam" D/C premise. Well, it fucking better be D/C endgame--I'm rooting for Sam/Lucifer in this, actually. And that's nearly a first.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I have not watched SPN regularly for something like 2 years, and yet, when the opening strains of "Carry On My Wayward Son" come blasting from the garage next door, I immediately look around for the Winchesters or demons.

(Our neighbors are retired Hell's Angels, and kind of deaf. I can always hear whatever music Ray is listening to when he's out in the garage.)
