Well, quite a lot of fuss. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were dangerous.

Because books.

ita, I think the "not dying on Tuesday" thing was a joke.

Morgana, I did see that! It's very tempting.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But it was weak because there isn't much contrast. "Neither of us" would have made a better reversal, for instance. And a clearer allusion to the episode and modulation of delivery.

I know what the goal of the day-metioning was, but I don't think it was successful with everything it raised.

Anyone in fandom who just got a cowboy fetish is pretty particular.

But I realise I'm tired when I have to put off reacting to Misha's photos until another time.

Shit. Reaction queue got longer: [link]

Did I miss something new:

ALL OF US QUEER FANS WHO SPN CRAPS ON. Why are Adam Glass’s hurt feelings more valid than our hurt feelings about being portrayed as jokes, predators, and token side characters like Charlie, Barnes, and Damien in a show whose creators and fans like to tout as being so queer positive?

Sans shame:

I finally left a comment to the effect of:

liked the D/C relationship, not a fan of AU Dean hating John so much more than canon, skimmed that bit, Jess is not petite.

Not that author's fault she caught me on night 3 of epic insomnia, but it's comment 364. I'm sure she'll get over it.

I think he was responding to some Destielers' pressure on Twitter the other day -- I saw a series of tweets from him about how the writers love all their characters and try to tell the best story they can, and not ever purposely hurting the fans, etc. So someone was being an entitled, demanding asshole, I guess.

Was there a specific and recent portrayal of queer as joke or predator, or did he say "You will never get your faggotry in my main plot, only in episodic heroes like Demian and Barnes or well-loved (by fans, writers, cast, and crew) recurring characters like Charlie!" while pissing on a rainbow?

Man, there isn't a megaphone big enough to yell "Safest to assume no writer is waiting for you to tell them what story to write!" If he asked "Hey, who do you want Dean or Castiel to hook u with?" it would be on topic (and he'd be signing his own death warrant), but otherwise...this is literally what your own fanfic is for. It's not like it's not well-published fandom etiquette to not send fanauthors and fanartist unsolicited prompts or requests. Why should a pro be different?

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Spurred by ita's comments, I have caught up on Misha's Twitter, and omg, the blackberries picture is to die for.

And then later in his pic feed is him and Nathan Fillion, and I just about exploded. Please, yes, them two, on screen together, or at least creating babies in a lab somewhere? (And maybe taking Nathan running because he seems to love his couch hobits a bit too much...).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have two D/C fic recommendations, both fairly different.

  • one is a Stargate: SG1 fusion that's *nearly* perfect--the mappings and tone and characterisations for both shows are pretty excellent though I definitely think Sam
should be the archeologist and Charlie might like fieldwork more. Compressed timeline, some "why do I feel these feels", but tiny things: Beyond The Event Horizon by plaintainleaf

  • and a weird H/S AU WIP with Endverse abrasive Cas. She's no Scaramouche and there are way too much hip song lyrics (though, Cure! I took a Just like Heaven break at the appropriate time)--it's one of those ones where I finally feel the author's inclusion of details that might be their life serve the story and characters in an interesting and illuminating way, not just an "I forced my issues onto my favourite ship" or "here's a laundry list of every thought I've ever had about them in loose chronological order" ways: Get Inside My Soul by angelivenantium (Cas tastes likes cigarettes, FTR, and sometimes mint, so far)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Oooo, is Cas a Jolinar-esque Tok'ra in the first one? It hadn't occurred to me before, but the angel/vessel situation would map really well to symbiont/host.
