To its credit, it's outlasted every genre show I can think of except Stargate SG-1 and Doctor Who, and even a couple years in the Friday Death Slot couldn't hurt its overall ratings much.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ten seasons.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

X-Files. Ahem.

Amy - Jul 26, 2012 3:47:37 pm PDT #25995 of 30002
Because books.

I thought it went, like, nine? Maybe not. At the end it was all very confusing.

(FTR, 9 seasons, and oh, what a painful end).

edit: Amy, you're totally right. I thought eight, but nine it is.

It was quite a while before I even realised I hadn't watched through until the end--there was a point at which quitting it was unthinkable, but Jesus. When it got bad it wasn't worth sticking around for the insanity. No matter my previous love. I booked it, and had some convenient amnesia to boot.
