I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.
I've realized that what I want to see, both in fic and in the show, is Sam and Dean living long enough to get old. I think that would be the perfect final scene of the series for me - a 30 second end tag showing one of them sitting on the front steps, visibly in his 60s or 70s, and then joined by the other one, also that age, who bumps his shoulder as he sits down beside him. I can't decide what music should be playing though - maybe an acoustic version of "Carry On"?

I don't know if I want the series to go out that happily or not. I might also be satisfied with them Bonnie and Clyding it off this mortal coil.
