Because books.

Maybe I should move, then.

Well, I didn't say legally.

Dean may have meant physical pain in part, but bundling it in with the whole DENY! REPRESS! speech, I definitely thought it had more to do with getting a dreamless night's sleep than anything else.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I thought he was suggesting it like he suggested alcohol, but I can see that.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Regardless of the accuracy of what I've already said, it seems pretty clear that Dean hadn't offered prescription bottles to Sam before, so I'm thinking they are a post-Hell sort of thing, timing-wise.

Eta: the pills were bundled with the coffee and food for fixing what's wrong with you now. It was just alcohol and violence for the repression. FWTW

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I thought the pills were for physical pain as well; the violence and alcohol were for the psychic.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Also, Lisa called Dean six times and he never called back? Wait? What? Wasn't Dean calling her over and over and she wasn't answering? I prefer that version of the story and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah, I seem to recall that from earlier in the season too. You don't get to repeatedly stonewall someone's attempts to contact you and then be all outraged at them for doing the same to you afterward.

Lisa's absolutely in the right to have kicked Dean to the curb for Ben's wellbeing and her own, but doing so is not compatible with blaming him for leaving.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

didn't they show Lisa repeatedly calling Dean after the whole vampire!Dean incident and him avoiding? or did i make that up?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

The one thing I didn't get that I wanted--desperately--from this ep was when Sam said, and meant, and Dean believed, that he had Dean's back. Just once I'd like Dean to say that to Sam. I know it's demonstrated in his concern and determination to save Sam, and Sam's soul, and souled Sam. But I think articulating it aloud would acknowledge Sam as an adult and an equal partner. I just think it needs to hit the air.

Because books.

I'm remembering Dean staring at the phone a lot and wanting to call Lisa, but not doing it, although I could be wrong. I think she was calling him after the vampire thing, though.

Now I have to rewatch. Poor me.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Poor Amy.

are we to guess he's self-medicated with prescription drugs before? when?)

The way he said "effective" made me think that these are not uncommon for him. It was a shocking moment for me. I'm comfortable with Dean abusing alcohol, but I never thought about him doing other drugs. That was a huge fucking bomb to drop with no other details.

Can it be Friday already? Seriously? I need to get the taste of this ep out of my mind. I think it was right and in character and maybe even necessary, but I want to forget it. But may I say, as I do probably every week, did you see Jensen's facial expressions that completely sold each and everything he was feeling? Damn, dude.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I took Dean ignoring the calls from Lisa as a way of avoiding explaining all the Lisa stuff to Sam. If Sam's memory is supposed to be blocked of all that happened after he fell into the pit, his last memory of her was telling Dean to go have a real life with her.

But I should probably rewatch tonight.
