I've read and written Wincest. But I don't discuss it here because it's a cultural taboo for a lot of people, and it's never been part of thread culture. I assume other people don't for that reason, or because they read it and don't necessarily want to admit it or talk about it, which is also fine.
Amy, I'm one of those people who read wincest but doesn't discuss it here. Mostly because I've always received the impression that the topic was most unwelcome here. Although I must admit there have been times, particularly during recent BigBangs and the many, many posts about Dean/Castiel stories that I was tempted to start posting recs for Sam/Dean stories with equal abandon. I know that there are others out there who read it, and those who don't can scroll past, just as I scroll past the Dean/Castiel.
the show has illustrated more than once that angels are sexual creatures, anyway.
I'm remembering Gabriel and Balthazar as the angels who had sex, yes? (Anna was human when she was with Dean. Although she said the desire for sex is one of the reasons she chose to fall, to no longer be an angel.) So as far as I can interpret their behavior, their engaging in sex is part of their rebellion, and is part of their acting out and doing things they know are wrong and un-angelic.
re: Samuel
Maybe Crowley was working with someone, someone who has/had pull in Heaven or at least access to it. Maybe someone like Balthazar snatched himself a soul along with WMD's before he faked his death and skidaddled. Was it said exactly when he was supposed to have died?
Of course, since souls are currency, Balthazar woulda just kept Samuels soul for himself. But maybe another angel?
My level of squick is pretty equal,
Okay, but you seem to have read it and enjoyed it, as far as I can tell. I'm not going to harsh on you for that just because I think it's icky. Kink and let kink.
The Show doesn't even recoginze the Wincest taboo
Uh, the show explicitly calls out an incest taboo. I don't get where you think it doesn't. That wouldn't make it off topic for the thread, though.

yes, when they needn't have mentioned it at all.
when they needn't have mentioned it at all.
True. But they did mention it, twice, and negatively.
As for Castiel's sexuality, you might not be comfortable with it, Morgana and Beverly. But it is canon. Balthazar and Gabriel might be the only angels we know of that have had sex, but they're not the only ones that have had erections. Baby's first boner.
ijs I'm more squicked by Sam & Dean knowing that Wincest exists in canon than I ever was by any mention of it here.
Baby's first boner
Is that a reference to the scene in the hallway where Meg kisses Castiel? I'd have to rewatch before I could comment with any kind of certainty myself, but I think I remember reading others who said that when he looked down it could have been a "what's that?" at his first boner, as you put it, or he could have been looking down because Meg just shoplifted his sword. Because right after that she stepped back holding it to use as a weapon against the hellhounds.
Either way I know that angels are capable of sexuality. There's biblical evidence for it, what with the nephilim and all. It just hits my personal squick meter, which is odd considering that I've worked my way around to reading and enjoying a lot of wincest. It's just not my personal beautiful cake. But, you know, go forth and be happy amidst the fanfic jungles.
It's referring to the scene where Dean says Castiel has an erection. He gets a hardon from the porn, remember?
