Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I was frustrated by something, I knew other people were frustrated, I offered a suggestion. I did not mean for it to be taken as a demand. The original fic thread was created in the first place because the same thing happened with Buffy, so I thought it was a reasonable suggestion.
I can understand how it might be disconcerting for a thread you're used to being a certain way suddenly becoming very different
And that right there is part of my issue. I feel--and it's a feeling, so please don't quote stats at me--that fic discussion has taken over here in a way that it hasn't previously, and I was voicing my frustration. No doubt things will go back to what I consider 'normal' once Show starts again.
Of course, I don't want to inhibit the way anyone else enjoys the show or the thread, so if the desire is strong for fic discussion to stay here, then so be it. Recs, whether of writing, art, or any other fan generated material, should of course stay here.
Or, what Beverly said.
Are there some kind of special cooties on SPN fic that can't mix with fic from other fandoms?
It's possible I'm still just raw from the expulsion of SPN from Boxed Set, but I've tried to talk SPN fic in there before, and ... crickets. It has an established culture, and SPN has never gained traction. I don't feel it's my place to charge in with a group of people and disturb that.
Now, y'all can, if you want. I just don't want to.
Wait--leave recs here and discussion there? That's even more confusing for me.
the volume of SPN discussion was consistently overcoming discussion of other shows.
Isn't that just what would happen in the fic thread?
that fic discussion has taken over here in a way that it hasn't previously, and I was voicing my frustration.
While the show is on air?
Also, Anne, I'm not seeing it as a demand. I'm seeing discussion of the right move to make.
I think what people are saying is that we talk about SPN fic
a lot
and if that talk were to move to the very low traffic Fic thread, suddenly it would seem like all SPN all the time and that might overwhelm users who are used to Fic being about all kinds of fan fiction.
I don't feel like we talk about about fic too much here while the show is running. There's bursts of activity, but I've never had trouble finding show discussion. But that's just my experience and as I said, I'm happy to have the SPN fic talk in here.

In that case, then leave well enough alone and see what happens come 28 January? I do think that one of my issues with hellatus is that to me, it
feels
like active show time.
Also, in all of this, I had forgotten about the Boxed Set split. I apologize for having dredged up past bitterness.
that fic discussion has taken over here in a way that it hasn't previously, and I was voicing my frustration.
I think it has. Even when the show is actively airing. doesn't mean people can't use this thread for fanfic, just that I've noticed it.
That said, I still have raw feelings about getting kicked out of BS, so I'm not looking to repeat that.
I realize I'm a fic enthusiast, but this thread in particular is one where I'd think suggesting people might want to move along elsewhere is an extremely touchy issue.
If it ends up that fic discussion stays, I'd still like to know how others can be made more comfortable beyond ensuring active Show discussion isn't interrupted. Is it not just volume, but content? How do I edit myself? In timing and frequency, or topic (too in-depth on the D/C. Wincest? Slash deets?)?
I'd like to have my squee and my peeves, but I don't want to be a bull in a china shop either. Which maybe I have and for that I apologize.
