Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

that fic discussion has taken over here in a way that it hasn't previously, and I was voicing my frustration.

I think it has. Even when the show is actively airing. doesn't mean people can't use this thread for fanfic, just that I've noticed it.

That said, I still have raw feelings about getting kicked out of BS, so I'm not looking to repeat that.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I realize I'm a fic enthusiast, but this thread in particular is one where I'd think suggesting people might want to move along elsewhere is an extremely touchy issue.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

If it ends up that fic discussion stays, I'd still like to know how others can be made more comfortable beyond ensuring active Show discussion isn't interrupted. Is it not just volume, but content? How do I edit myself? In timing and frequency, or topic (too in-depth on the D/C. Wincest? Slash deets?)?

I'd like to have my squee and my peeves, but I don't want to be a bull in a china shop either. Which maybe I have and for that I apologize.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

If I'm not alone it would make sense that there is more fic talk in here than previously; I am more interested in fic than I was before, and SPN fic is my favorite.

Am I crazy to suggest fic-free weekends? I'm wondering how out of hand it would be if we only talked fanfic in here Monday-Thursday.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've noticed it.

You've noticed discussion, or you've noticed show discussion suffering?

I know I'm guilty of the behaviour being discussed here, because I read a lot of fic, I talk a lot, and I talk about some of the fic I read. But I'd be really surprised to see a number of instances in which show discussion suffered, got derailed, or was drowned out because there was a thriving fic discussion going on instead. Each bout of discussion is usually pretty short and not happening on top of any other conversation.

You've noticed discussion, or you've noticed show discussion suffering?

I've noticed that it seems like at least half the posts here in the last six months have been fic, not show. Now it might be that we'd talk about the show no more if there weren't fic discussons going on.

I, personally, don't like posting show stuff in the midst of ongoing fic recs, squee and discussion because it feels like interrupting a conversation. But I've not been as frequent a poster in the last season so that's not a huge deal.

It's definitely a thread I skim because I default assuming that it's mostly fic talk, even when there might be show talk too.

Threads evolve. Threads about shows more than most, I'd guess.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Speaking for myself, I think that's all that's needed. Just a sensitivity to timing. People are good about knowing what to whitefont.

I did feel that the conversation upthread about Death's role in the show got cut rather short, and that's what prompted me to post something I've been thinking about for a while. To your point, ita, while it may not happen often, that instance just happened to hit a breaking point for me. It was as if Hec had come back to a thread looking forward to continued discussion of haircuts and instead found a string of cat macros.

Again, I apologize for forgetting that the Boxed Set move was a sore point for a lot of people and for therefore stirring up a lot of old bitterness. I will retract my suggestion and will do what I can to adjust to how the thread has evolved.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Anne, Thank you, and I'm sorry if I made you feel like you couldn't speak your mind. Knee jerk reaction aside, I think being mindful of not cutting off show discussion is a good thing. I'm not sure how we can balance it, given that we are all talky meat, and not always about the same things, but mindfulness is never a bad thing.

I want to see Death reap God.

You didn't make me feel that at all. Thank you.
