The fic thread is really slow right now, and if people who are reading and rec'ing SPN fic do that in the fic thread, there's a group right there, in a mostly dormant thread. Discussion could expand a bit, too, if wanted.
I don't see the need to exclude fic from the fic thread just because it's SPN, especially since there isn't really any other fic discussion ongoing at the moment.
We could give it a try. If people complain we're getting peanuut butter in their chocolate we can always bring it back here.
I'm one who's skimming pretty heavily and afraid I'm going to miss show talk because of it.
I'd rather stop talking about fic than run them out of their thread, despite its low volume.
So I'll just do that instead.
I'm assuming the same goes for fan-created arts and crafts, right?
Oh please don't stop posting links to fan art.

The fic thread was created for discussing fanfic. All I thought was that if we had a thread already set up for that exact purpose, maybe we should use it. I know that some people, including myself, did not like the mix of show and fic talk, so I thought I would suggest a possible solution for when Show started again.
I never liked chibi until I saw Supernatural chibi and now I kind of love it. You guys are my only source.
ita, do I have to forsake you twice? /crack addict
FWIW, I'm not interested in fic, I'm interested in SPN fic. But if rules is rules is rules, I'll abide by that.
If we move this volume of fic talk over there, specific fics and shit, if it's enough to overwhelm one of the highest volume threads on the board, what do you think it's going to do to the existing fic thread?
Rules are rules. If fic is deemed off topic here, then I won't talk about it here. But I'm not going to participate in radically changing the thread culture of a different thread. You guys want to change this thread, let's change
this
thread.
However I think it's inconsistent to leave vids and fanart on the table and exclude fic.
Oh now I get what you're saying. From my perspective, I feel like more traffic is good for any thread, but I can understand how it might be disconcerting for a thread you're used to being a certain way suddenly becoming very different.
I'm lost. I'm not being twee or deliberately obtuse, I really don't get it, because I thought the fic threads were for discussing and rec'ing fic. Is that wrong? Are there some kind of special cooties on SPN fic that can't mix with fic from other fandoms? It was my understanding that the fic rec and fic writing threads were created back in the mists of time because some people in Bitches found fic talk tiresome. And it's also my impression that SPN was removed from Boxed Set not because the discussion was at odds with the purpose of BS, but because the volume of SPN discussion was consistently overcoming discussion of other shows.
It just seems to me--unless there's some stigma to SPN fic that other fandoms'fic doesn't have that I don't know about--that the fic threads are there for fic discussion.
Am I wrong?
Of course, I don't want to inhibit the way anyone else enjoys the show or the thread, so if the desire is strong for fic discussion to stay here, then so be it. Recs, whether of writing, art, or any other fan generated material, should of course stay here.
I enjoy BTS and actor gossip. I would think that belongs here, unless someone objects to that.
ETA: Sorry, I hadn't seen ita's post.
There have been SPN fic recs in the fic thread. There's been some discussion of SPN fic there. Which honestly was why I was puzzled when that discussion moved over here. I see now that ita's objection to "invading" the fic thread is due to possible volume and overwhelm rather than purpose, so I don't know what that outcome would be. The thread is dormant as it is, so conflict would appear to be nonexistant.
But if people are uncomfortable talking about a specific show anywhere other than the show-labeled thread, I think the best solution is to just leave things as they are.
