The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Crackpot vidding notions: why is there not a Dean/Castiel vid set to "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure? Also, why is there not a Sam-centric vid to "You're The One" by Danzig?

Because books.

ita, there's one section in particular that would have to be sort of excised or skipped, but other than that it's incest-free. Which ... strikes me as odd, to tell you the truth, the way it's handled.

I skimmed it only, and the bulk of the story is Mary and John. The ending is sort of interesting, but also sort of anticlimactic. I might go back and read more carefully, and if you want I could tell you what section to skip and pertinent info you would need from it, but it didn't strike me as a must-read right away.

tiggy, is that about The Red Hood?

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

it is, Amy. i was surprised to see that Jensen's been doing voice only work. i'm kind of intrigued.

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

ita - the wincest in that story isn't something you can really skip through. The first three chapters are John and Mary and Dean and Sam but the fourth has the boys as teenagers with both descriptive text and imbedded fairly graphic art - which is where I stopped reading.

...but I now see that Amy skipped to the end so maybe you can skip that chapter altogether and have it still make sense. The art kind of threw me out of the story..

Kneel before Glod. ~Stephen Colbert

I read Dictionary for a Dead Language last night, skimming swiftly past the Wincesty bits. It was beautifully written, and indeed well-worth the read. Thanks for the rec!

I was suprised at some convention or another when Jensen really downplayed The Red Hood thing. He sort of implied the studio has the ability to pull him into other gigs and that's how he ended up with that job.

I don't know if his lack of enthusiasm reflected a lack of enthusiasm for the material or some kind of awkwardness about how he landed the role. Regardless, I hear he's great in it.

Marcia I totally agree and further I think it wouldn't have greatly suffered storywise being wincest free. Stories like these should have two versions, one gen so people with a wincest squick can still experience the amazing story. I didn't spoiler font because there aren't any story spoilers that wouldn't be included in the warnings.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The Wincest in Dead Language is skippable? I mean, I'm okay with them being obsessed with each other. I just can't take consummation or desires of such.

I think it wouldn't have greatly suffered storywise being wincest free

Hmmph. I'm pouty.

And clex's story sounds like it was wedged in. But that's what fanfic is for--a place to put your kink into the story.

Amy, if you tell me which chapter to skip, and what happens in it, I might give it a shot. I'm way jonesing, but kinda disappointed that it wasn't an excellent execution.

ita, I'm not sure that it is skippable, but it so could have been with very little excising.

You may want to give it a shot though. The prologue and first chapter are certainly safe, I'd have to assess other chapters.

Because books.

I don't think the 'cest in Dead Language is skippable, really. It's not blatant, there aren't any graphic scenes (just a couple of mentions) but the emotional aspect is there. I could spoil part of it and say why from one perspective it's not really objectionable, but it's always going to be from the other, and it's not a story you want to start taking apart or skipping.
