If you know anyone or of anyone who would know anyone who'd be willing to housesit (!!! I have to get a house before the trip!) as in live in while I'm gone, I'd appreciate it.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Still behind crime tape. But the cats are cute.
This one is the best:
Tofu vs. Bacon Food Fight! They’re just little bendy characters, but aren’t they cute? I’m especially drawn toward Tofu, mostly because of his mustache, I think. Perfect for a mixed household - one vegetarian, one meat addict.
They forgot The Bacon of the Month Club.
I've been reading some of the NY Times archive articles about the Milk-Moscone assassinations. One thing I noticed -- they used "coast" in headlines to refer to California. Like "Slayer of Coast Mayor is Free After Six Years" or "US Will Not Prosecute in 1978 Killings On Coast." I wonder when that usage stopped. I don't remember ever seeing it, but it's in the headlines up through at least 1985.
Huh, that's so interesting about the "coast" usage.
sarameg, where do you live?
DH wanted some pasta. Yes, it was after midnight. But I whipped up a cream sauce with butter, garlic, half & half, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes and cracked pepper. Served it over some penne.
When does Sean Penn's biopic of Milk come out?
Milk premiered in SF last week, but I think it opens nationwide on... Wednesday, I think.
I just came back from the new Mary Zimmerman production, Arabian Nights, and it was wonderful. It's a return to the story-cycle technique of Metamorphosis rather than the linear narrative of Argonautika. The set and cast and structure were all just fabulous, and the content ranged from deeply moving stories of lost love and missed opportunities to ... fart jokes. Bay Area types should try to see it, although I'd suggest going for tickets now, because it looks like it's going to sell out.
Continuing my week's theme, I watched a docu-drama about Jonestown on the History Channel yesterday, featuring commentary by Stephan Jones, Jim Jones' son -- he escaped the slaughter by being away with the teen boy's basketball team. They got radioed orders to kill themselves, but away from so much community influence (not to mention the armed guards), rejected the idea.
He's had a lot of time to think over what happened and why, and he's actually articulate, so it added a lot to understanding the why and how.

I hadn't thought about it, but isn't the old joke, "I just flew in from the coast, and boy are my arms tired"?
