At a party a few years ago, some Very Macho Acquaintances decided it would be hilarious to have me try a shot of Jaegermeister. I downed it, shrugged, and said something like, "Oh, it's the candy version of Fernet. What's the big deal?"

Fernet's one of those things that I might drink for the connotations, but not for the actual taste.
