Aren't places in NY air conditioned?

F2F5: I forget that everyone isn't us
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.
I've got family is Saskatoon and Edmonton and Calgary and Moose Jaw and Ottawa and on Prince Edward Island. Saskatoon can be humid in the middle of summer though so that rules it out. Same with Ottawa.
We've never done an F2F in Nunavut. It won't be too hot. Just sayin'.
If we moved the dates to winter we could hang out with some ice road truckers.
I get that these F2Fs are never easy to plan, what with everyone having an opinion and voicing it and all, but I think the conversation is verging on rude.
I am a frail and fragile flower that wilts in muggy heat. Sorry, but I am. If I'm going to be uncomfortable the entire time I'm outside on my 'vacation', that's a concern for me. So, yes, any area that is supposedly big on outdoor type activities, I'll be taking the weather into consideration. Other people on the board will as well.
Dates are more important to some, location is more important to others, and then there's weather. People should feel they're able to voice their concerns without ridicule.
Sorry. I'm cranky. I need to walk away from this.
Is there any way to avoid the heat, though? Pretty much any time other than summer will create additional conflicts for students, teachers, and parents, which is a pretty significant portion of the board. And I don't think there's anywhere on the East Coast, other than in the mountains (which would be too far away from airports), that doesn't have the possibility of being hot during the summer. It's definitely something to take into account in picking a hotel and deciding where to go within the city we choose -- like, make sure that the hospitality suite and the prom room have air conditioning, and don't pick a hotel where the only way to get to restaurants is to walk several blocks -- but I don't think we can rule out dates based on possible heat, since that would rule out pretty much every date.
Asheville, NC. In the mountains. They have an airport with direct flights from: Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Laguardia, Newark, Orlando, Tampa.
There is some humidity, but there is a nice mountain breeze. And there is the Biltmore [link]
OK, that is my only suggestion for east coast, low humidity, summer. No clue how much there is to do or where. I spent the summer just south of there at Flat Rock Playhouse.
Nothing's going to be as humid or hot as the DC F2F was.
That problem was solved by staying in the air conditioning and drinking. As I recall. Though we only really were there for Prom. Seeing as how we interrupted Our Freakin' Honeymoon to be there. (worth it though)
Nothing's going to be as humid or hot as the DC F2F was.
You guys missed the New Orleans f2f, didn't you? We'd have had to pick Southeast Asia during monsoon season to get a hotter and wetter f2f.
I'm slightly worried that the increasing trend toward the middle of summer could see us with similar weather to the Washington event, but if it ends up in NYC we should be able to do more of our wandering underground. Do the buildings in east coast cities funnel wind to street level like they do in Chicago?
