I used to go barelegged in January in Chicago.
F2F5: I forget that everyone isn't us
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon.
But you were probably used to it. Fay's coming from Bangkok - the tropics.
The things that go on your legs to stop them from being bare are called tights
But see, we bloody colonials (footnote Giles) have broken those down into further categories, with the sheerest, lightest ones being commonly referred to as "pantyhose" (or hos), and the heavy ones being "tights."
We make things needlessly complicated, huh?
(or hos)
Nah, that's just the fishnets.
We make things needlessly complicated, huh?
see also: switching fork hands.
Then there are stockings, lacking the panty part.
We do have a way of unnecessarily complicating things. We should just do away with panties and hose. Erm... you know what I mean.
Wouldn't Seattle in June fairly similar to London in June?
Fractionally warmer, Ginger, not counting those freaky heat-waves London has made a habit of this past decade.
So what I'm saying is - it was 42 degrees out today. I spend most of the day barefoot and barelegged. I'm guessing that I'll need something on my legs other than a taffeta skirt, right? Right. Duh. I'm being stupid.
It took a minute to realize, but obviously you mean 42 C. That is just horrifying to me. I can't take much about 30 without getting discombobulated from the heat.
Oh hey, a local gathering! I'd like to come, too.
I'm booked with my Great Uncle and Aunt in Albany (near the North Berkley Station of the BART, I'm told--I have no idea where it is, aside from near a BART station)
Calli, can you confirm where, exactly, you will be? Because the Plaza BART is in El Cerrito, which is thisclose to Albany, whereas the North Berkeley BART station is very definitely not in either Albany nor El Cerrito. The Monte Cristo is over on University near the North Berkeley station.
t- I could pick you up at the Berkeley Amtrak stop on 4th St. if you want to coordinate. It's not worth it to try to do transit from Marin. Or: the Amtrak/BART exchange at Richmond is not bad. I used to BART to work from Richmond and it's an okay station, really.
t-, jz, poltercow - insent.
Just a thought, but there's Plearn for excellent Thai on Univ near Milvia, and what about one of the classic Berkeley restaurant/coffeehouses, Au Coquelet right at the corner of Milvia and Univ.? The food is pretty good and covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and they serve beer and wine too. It's a good group place, just drag table together in the back part - my theater group does it all the time. No reservations, just show up.
