Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. Don't know if you know this, but, uh…I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her, and then she tried to shag me, so I had to-- Wesley: Thank you. I'm…very comforted.

Attention Seattle-istas!

I'm firming up plans for traveling to your fair city the 1st weekend of November. I'm looking at flying in (probably early evening) on Thursday the 5th, and heading out (probably afternoon) of Monday the 9th.

Please tell me some of you will be there!

It turns out my niece is getting married earlier in the week, and Saturday the 7th is just reception/party/pub crawl (after-party-ish). So I'm booked Saturday afternoon/evening, but other than that I'm pretty open and would LOVELOVELOVE to see some/all of you!

I'm also taking recommendations for tourist-y stuff to do and see (seriously, Space Needle may literally be the only attraction I've heard of).

I was thinking of asking to couch surf, but since I'm now looking at 4 nights, plus am allergic to most of y'all's furry friends, I'm looking at hotels. The party is at the Dakota Place Park Building. Any recommendations for neighborhoods I should be looking at? All my niece told me was "Downtown". Are any of these other names I'm seeing on hotels listings useful to me (Bellevue, Tukwila, near SeaTac, etc.)?

Thanks for any advice and/or wisdom you can offer. I've never been to Seattle before so I'm really trying to cram as much "vacation" into my long weekend as I can!

Epic, SeaTac/Tukwila (depending on where) would be near the airport. If they have a shuttle or are walking distance, you could take the light rail downtown. Bellevue would not be doable unless you have a car.

I'm probably going to rent a car. I'm from San Diego - I think public transportation is great in theory, but I'm near useless at navigating it. Plus I carry too much stuff, all the time, so not walking miles with it is good.

Or is Seattle's Pub Trans that good? Thinking back, I'm remembering someone telling me that Seattle's was great - but she had just moved to San Diego, so maybe it's only great compared to ours, which is crap? And is Seattle park-able, or is it more like NYC or SF or DC, where it's not worth the agita to even try to park?

It's pretty shitty, parking is usually not too awful.

Thanks. I'll go ahead and leave the rental car in the planning then.

Seconding--transit sucks, and parking isn't great, but better than NYC or SF, and if you're willing to pay for a lot, most parts of the city have plenty of options.

Okay, I'm a doofus, so I only just booked my flights for my Seattle trip (almost $100 extra each way over last week, dammit). Coming in Thursday, Nov 5 at 6:10pm, leaving Monday, Nov 9 at 6:45pm. I'll be busy Saturday afternoon & evening with my niece's festivities, but other than that I'm pretty open.

Not to sound needy, but will any Seattle-istas be able to get together anywhere in there? I'm looking forward to seeing the sights, but definitely hoping to see some peeps as well!
