WOOT - Phillies! I'm happy to do a little bit of personal shopping, should someone want swag (and can cover s&h and cost - wish I could, but JavaChik's box will likely run about 100lbs). Profile addy.
((((Sox))))
I was hesitant to ask you for anything, because I suck and never even responded to your email to me about the newspapers during the play-offs. But yeah, anything you can find and send my way I will happily reimburse you! My Jimmy Rollins bobblehead is lonely.

heh. ::wanders off in the direction of the bobbleheads::
java, weren't you going to visit Philly in Oct? Is a visit going to happen at some point?
WANT SWAG!
omgomgomgomgomg
Yes, it's finally, really, sinking in.
I'm really hoping for a landslide too. I'm quite concerned about the election being decided by litigation.
I'm trying not to think about it.
I never know what the lines will be like at my precinct. It's always been pretty random. The election officials are telling people to aim to go between 10 and 4, when it is less busy. Uh, yeah. Because that's usually the least convenient time for people. That's why we want early voting!
Oh, and I heard something interesting: Maryland is planning on returning to paper ballots for the 2010 election cycle.
Anne, swung back atcha.
Sox, yes, I was supposed to be there last week, in fact. But the NDA project went so over due to all of the software problems, that I didn't get to go (couldn't register/book flights until NDA was done, and then it was too late). I am still hoping to get back East, but am waiting for another project to be futher defined (timelines wise) before I can try and schedule it. I really want to do a 4-5 trip back East hitting both New York and Philly. Also, I am really spread thin financially right now, so I have to factor that in. Without work paying for me to come back East, it's a little harder to swing.
However, I am going to a conference in San Diego next week, and my consolation prize (which is pretty damned sweet) is getting to see ND, Kristin, Cupcake Goth and her adorable husband.

Are you on touchscreens now? We've had the scan-tron kind of paper ballots for years, and I can't see why any place wouldn't see it as the best of both worlds. All the advantages of computerized systems for instant counting, with the actual original marked-by-the-voter's-own-hand ballot right there if a backup is needed.
Yeah. There was a big overhaul to get the whole state on touchscreen, with no paper trail...and now they're chucking it. Apparently, they'll still be paying for the touchscreens years after they stop using them.
I'm all for it.
