The only ones where I'm sure of my vote are #1 (high-speed rail) and #8.

Can I encourage a HELL NO for whichever one is requiring parental consent for teen abortion Prop 4?

Punishingly Intricate

It is not snowing by the Water Tower.

I've been there now!!!

Kathy, I'm glad you were okay w/ not meeting up. I was wrecked on Saturday from party on Friday and thought I could rally but it turned out I couldn't. We got thai food and sat on the couch and I introduced boyfriend to Firefly. Fun but energy free. We should definitely try to meet up next time I'm out though.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I went with Owen's class to a puppet show at the library. HMOG, they do NOT pay preschool teachers enough. There's just no way.

I told both of them that, too.

I need a drink.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

how is that a filter? to my ears, "filter" suggests that they are editting her or taking things out of context - removing bits and whatnot.

Sure, but to your ears "Middle class hockey Mom" probably doesn't mean "a hunnerdandfiddy grand in clothes" either.

Captain logic? Run over by this tugboat.

Sorry. And it's not consent, it's notification. And it's not even necessarily parental.

Fair point on the consent--I was about to go back and change that, but I don't buy that adding "or other adult family member" (and then only if the minor claims parental abuse) changes it from what we saw two years ago, and three years ago, and so on, and I think it sets a a very dangerous precedent.

The status is NOT quo.

Notification of a parent or guardian puts girls in abusive homes in a very bad situation. By the time they have jumped through the hoops required to appeal to a judge about why it isn't safe for them to notify, it will be too late for an early abortion. I get why parents would want to know, but I also have seen enough teen pregnancies in my years as a teacher to fear that mandated notification leads to desperate teens and illegal and unsafe abortions.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
