Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
For anyone with a cat on a hunger/picky strike: kraft parmesan cheese sprinkled over their food. It's crackier than wet food crack. Probably isn't ideal, but was recc'd by a vet and it works.
the feeling is mutual. now I need to go to bed.
Sara, you definitely win for dysfunctional neighborhood and while I'm glad you can laugh about it, it sounds as if it's definitely time to get. out.
So, sending you energy ~ma.
Know which ad I hate? The Subway five dollar foot long one. God, it grates. Almost as bad is the NuvaRing one, and I watch too much TV.
A couple of pieces of Australian music that have been entertaining me. First, The Presets' "My People". [link] The nerd in me likes the tessellation in the video.
Then there's Empire of the Sun, made up of the Sleepy Jackson's Luke Steele and Pnau's Nick Littlemore. The video for "Walking On A Dream" was shot in Shanghai. [link] Interesting seeing some of the places I visited when I got married. (I suspect a high level of bemusement from the locals when they were shooting this one.)
~mas to job seekers, cat and god persons and people who need to move to better neighborhoods.
Columbus, Ohio songs
I'm kinnda surprised at the moment I can't come up with any Scrawl songs. They are from there.
And on "Dad's Questions That Buffistas Would Probably Know To Answer" today: What's the word for predestined fate in Greek tragedies?
Shir - moira (μοῖρα)
Thanks, Sox! That's the term/definition from the tragedies (Aeschylus, etc.)?
well, there's another - "doom of the gods" - that is more doom-y, but moira is the most common translation. (thanks to my Oxford English Dictionary & classics teacher) It means 'lot' or 'portion' and was extended to mean 'lot in life' with a lot of weight attached to it. The Moirae are so named because they're the three fates in Greek mythology - the "apportioners."
- note: not a linguist, but I play one on the internet.
