Heh. There are three female professors in my department. One wears a black skirt or pants and jewel-tone top every day. The other two are generally jeans and sneakers people. (My sister is completely horrified that I wear jeans and sneakers for teaching. I responded that my clothes don't have holes or stains, which puts me above at least half the other grad students.)
Maybe a skirt and top in more earthy tones, with a coordinating, but not matching blazer? and clunkier shoes than you would wear in a business interview? Or a plainish, but high quality dress that you can wear with a blazer if you want?
Thanks. That helps a lot. (Clunkier shoes are a must for me anyway -- I tend to twist my ankles or knees if I wear even slightly wobbly shoes.)
